Gazelle Tents - T4 Tandem Hub Tent

If you're spending that type of money, look at the gazelle tents.

I second the Gazelle. I have the two room model and love it. Only complaint is it's tough to put up in sustained winds. It tends to collapse on itself before it's staked in.

I've been camping for 30 years and I'm a huge fan of our Gazelle brand pop up. With little kids including a baby who doesn't like to be put down, it's a huge time saver!

If you can spend a little bit more and don't mind a little bit bigger when packed away, Gazelle tents are great. I love mine. I know it's way too big for a single person, but I like to have the room and be able to stand or sit in it with a chair shoud it be raining, all while having my pad and bags in there. And if I go somewhere i can stick my bike inside it so it's out of site. SUPER easy to set up. I also have a small 2P bikepacking tent for tight areas or when I don't want to take the big ol tent.

We like the gazelle too. Husband can stand up in it. Quick set up/tear down. Very roomy and seems to be holding up really well.

Check out Gazelle, it's bulky but I love it anyway.

I didn't put a tarp over it but in the almost 40 nights in the tent it's only rained that hard twice. The first time there was a dribble of water from the hub seams I had to sop up with an extra t-shirt. After seam seaming it was damp to the touch but not dripping. I did have a tarp up outside over a picnic table and it rained so much that it pooled up on the tarp and got so heavy that it ripped the tarp in two.

My only problem now is that I have a player 2 and it's not great for 2 people and one bed. I don't sleep on the ground.

It's always kind of amused me that Gazelle is known for being heavy. Gazelles, famous for their immense bulk and weight. And yes I know it's called that because it's fast to set up lol. They really are super nice.

When I take my two kids camping we use to use a Coleman Sundome for a couple years but I got so tired of having to set it up and tear it down that I got a Gazelle T4 tent and I've been very happy with the ease of setting it up alone in under 90 seconds

I've used it for dozens and dozens of nights. Only issue I had was one night when we got over 2 inches of rain. The rain started to seep through the stitching at the hubs. After that I applied some seam seal to them and I think that has resolved the issue. Another concern is high winds. I have used it in steady winds up to 25 mph with higher gusts, but I had to tie out the hubs with guy lines, using two lines per hub to give better holding power, and also I swapped out the stakes to more heavy duty all metal spikes which I bring a hammer to hammer into the ground. No issues when I stake it out like this.

I have a gazelle - great tent - super easy setup and it's tall enough to stand in. Downside it's heavy and big. Like the size of a small person in the bag. And I think it weighs maybe 30 some pounds. Like any tent you have to make sure it's dry before putting it away etc. I also don't like the fact that the floor is velcro-ed on. I haven't had any issues but it seems strange. I've also had a sundome - it's light packs small mine was a 3 person so it's short and tight inside. Takes time to set up as with the poles etc. Some of the taller domes a shorter person would struggle to get the fly on. I'm 5'4 and have to keep that in mind if I plan to put them up alone. I have a tensleep I love - but it's essentially a dome and a super large fly - hard to set up in the wind.

Hahaha I have never experienced that. It's a regular tent that is waterproof and rainproof, let alone bug proof.

My partner and I use a Gazelle T4 and I love it. It's not huge, but I wouldn't consider it small either. No porch either. Okay, it's not what you're looking for... I just needed to mention how much I love it for 2 people. A lot of room for gear (I keep a chair in ours) and standing room. Edit: ALSO, it takes like 90 seconds to set up (without staking), 3 minutes with staking, 8-10 minutes if you suspect heavy rain and want to guy out the rainfly (don't need to in light rain). There's a version that is double the length for a screened in porch area, but it's very bulky.

My T4 makes me so happy.

The gazelle isn't light or cheap though.

We've used our Gazelle T4 for 7 years, including adding two kids to the mix, and it's held up really well! I really love how quick it is. I don't think we have the removable floor, that does sound a little sketchy.

We have the regular T4 and I agree it's VERY tall. Roomiest 4 person tent I've ever used.

We had a trunk tent for almost 2 years. The main thing we couldn't get over was the limited airflow. Ended up hardly ever using it attached the vehicle. Once it fell apart, we went with a pop up tent like a gazelle for ease of setup and best of all, not 4 sided. That way you can setup a table in the middle and still get around, or set up multiple tables on the walls with tons of room.

Holds up better than just one. Also I got rid of the tent stakes that came with it and I got some all metal 10 inch tent spikes off of Amazon that I use for tent steaks.

If you could squeeze like 30-50 more dollars... I highly recommend the Gazelle T4. Sets up crazy fast. Two doors. Plenty of air flow. So much storage options inside. Room for many, many things.

Honestly I'm not sure. There's been some posts recently about quality control issues with Gazelle, but that may only be anecdotal evidence. I bought my Gazelle T4 in early spring 2024 and have used it for around 40 nights. It's been great but there's a couple small issues. First, in super heavy downpour (more than an inch per hour) it would soak through around the hubs and also where the mesh bags are sewn into the sides. I put seam seal on the seams of the hub and the mesh bags on the outside and this reduced the amount that soaks through but 90% (and it would only soak through in torrential downpours.) Also wind is an issue, I'm talking about 20+ mph winds - the hub will collapse in fairly easily if not guyed out. The more horizontal you can guy out the hubs the better, and in high winds I'll guy it out with two lines at 45 degree angles from the tent. When I guy it out well, the tent hub hasn't collapsed in 30+ mph winds.

Yeah on long trips I store my T4 in my Thule rooftop box which is just long enough to hold it. It also holds my bags with sleeping bags and pads too. For quick overnights it fits in the back of my SUV with the back seat down.

Size and ease of setup. I use a Gazelle T4 because it really does set up in one minute. Storage size is large but it'll fit easily either in the back of my SUV or in my Thule rooftop box.

Gazelle T4 or Caddis Rapid 6 as a less expensive lighter-weight option. If you need something bigger I recommend a cabin tent, the Gazelle T4+ is enormous in its storage pouch and super heavy too.

Gazelle tents, T4 is perfect for a queen XPED mattress, and still plenty of room for my two cats, plus I can stand up completely and I am 5'7. It is also super easy to set up and take down!

Gazelle's are good, but they weigh a freaking ton. Not sure of your reasons for ditching the RTT, but other than the weight, the biggest downside of the hub tents are the massive amount of room they eat up in your vehicle. They don't park down like regular tents. I find myself running short on space when I use my gazelle.
