I'm in the same boat!! I just went to look at some today. My brother is giving us their lightly used Graco car seat with a basic click in stroller for quick newborn outings, so I feel better splurging on a nicer stroller for long term as long as it will be versatile. We don't have a garage or anywhere to store it in our house so I want something that folds very compact. I also want it to have parent facing and world facing options, which limits a lot of the smaller travel type strollers. I'm looking at the Nuna Triv, Nuna Swiv, and Joolz Hub 2 primarily. I was able to go look at the Nunas today along with the Maxi Cosi Tayla, Uppababy Cruz, and Cybex Balios/Melos. They had bugaboo there too but those are more than I'm wanting to spend and the Fox is bigger than I'm wanting anyway. The Nunas weight, folding mechanism, and folded size were FAR superior than any others and I am heavily leaning that direction. It was just so smooth and easy and compact on both of them. The Mixx was gigantic to me and the folded package was cumbersome to deal with. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anywhere with Joolz Hub2, but it looks very similar to the Triv and reviews say it's more durable. The Swiv was ever so slightly bigger than the Triv but felt a little sturdier and less like a travel stroller, and I don't feel like the extra 1-2 lbs was that big of a deal compared to the trade off you get for more storage basket space and what feels like more durability. However the Triv has more suspension and better wheels for all terrain, so I'm torn on that. The only hesitation I have with Nuna is the way the lady at the store talked about them. She said she herself would never buy one because they aren't made as well as others of the same price point and the warranty is crap (2 years but limited to things that probably wouldn't break anyway). She was really pushing the Cybex models but they just didn't have the same smooth and compact fold and I didn't like the buckles and seat material as much as the Nunas (the magnetic buckle was awesome). The Joolz Hub2 has a 10 year warranty and it has a toddler ride on board you can attach later on which makes it more versatile than the Nunas in my eyes. Not looking to get a double but having a little bit of flexibility with another kid when making such an expensive purchase feels nice. I just wish I could get my hands on it to compare! I'm almost leaning Joolz just due to the warranty and supposed durability. There's just not as much info out there about them from people who have bought them. I went to Nordstrom, a local baby store, and Pottery Barn kids, which could be an option where you live! I'm also looking into the bassinet options with the Nuna and Joolz and that's getting me stuck (nuna is expensive and Joolz doesn't have a stand to use at home) so I might just opt out of using these strollers with a tiny newborn and just baby wear/use the car seat click on stroller when needed. I think past 4-6 months old these will have a lot of longevity so trying to think long term and not get a bunch of accessories I don't need. Sorry for the info dump but tried to be detailed since you can't see them in person!

I got the nuna pipa car seat and nuna triv because it was 6lbs lighter than the uppa Cruz. I've only been using it for a few weeks and my only complaint is the under storage only loads from the front which can be annoying. We live in a walkable city so having a bigger under storage would have been nice

I have the Nuna Triv next and a Joolz aer+. I used the Nuna from birth and am still using it at 19 months almost daily. I got the Joolz when my daughter was 7 months old as the Nuna got too heavy with her to use on the tube by myself. So when I'm staying close to home or just going on the bus somewhere near I'll use the Nuna. Going anywhere else or travelling abroad I've used the Joolz. I really like it and it's super easy to fold and can go in the hold if you ever go on a plane etc.

Is your lab a good walker? Mine is NOT. He's reactive af. I love my Nuna triv stroller and Nuna Pipa car seat so much, but for walking my lab, hell no. I really don't walk him and my children solo because he's too hard to manage, but I'd get a jogging stroller if I did. I walked him and my 3yo recently and it was really hard to steer my triv one handed and the wheels would kind of catch trying to get it back on course. It's not the best for uneven terrain

Got the Nuna Triv next because it was supposed to be lightweight without compromising features. I hated it. Hate the fold. Hate that it doesn't stay folded/flops open all the time. Hate the stupid buckles that always get twisted. It was heavy/bulky to me. Getting it in and out of my car just pissed me off. Got the butterfly 2 and am so much happier. Is it as smooth as ride as the triv? Nope but my baby could not care less. If you value easy, one handed fold and a lightweight, well-thought out design (the buckles are so much easier!) get the butterfly.

we bought a travel stroller (cybex libelle) and a big stroller (nuna triv next) - ended up using the travel stroller like, 99% of the time. Big stroller just sits in the garage now and we use it for walks around the block but for everything that requires actually going in a car, we use the travel one

I got the nuna pipa Aire and the nuna triv. I know I didn't need it but I wanted it. Its so light, I can manage getting it out of the garage and into the car with one hand. It looks so chic and also I'm OAD. Might as well get what I want then resell when I'm done

I have the nuna triv next & like it but don't love it. We have a silver cross reef for our main stroller & bassinet (I believe it's an EU brand) and we love that one. The nuna is sort of cheap feeling & doesn't have very good suspension when comparing the two. It's still a great stroller but because I have (imo a better one) I don't think it's as amazing as the internet makes it seem 😆 I almost wish we'd gotten the nuna mixx or Demi but I've seen how the footrest sags on the mixx after a while of use since there's no frame to support it, and the Demi was just way too big when I tried it out in store.

We have a nuna triv and plan on using it as our primary stroller. We also have a silver cross reef for big/long walks in our neighborhood & uppababy minu for travel. I think the triv is big enough for daily/regular use but it's light enough that I can carry it & it doesn't feel super heavy. We got it as an unexpected gift from a friend, so we already had the other two prior 💀 otherwise I think we could've been ok with just the triv! The only thing I dislike about it is that the baby feels like they're kinda low to the ground. With the nuna mixx and silver cross the seat is a big higher but idk if that's a deal breaker for everyone or just me lol.

Travel strollers aren't very useful for daily walks etc and have been known to tip over if not on the correct terrain. As a travel strollers get the bugaboo butterfly or Joolz aer+ If you want a lightweight all rounder the best would be the cybex balios or nuna triv

I really like the Triv next! Its not perfect but it checked all our boxes - light, small and maneuverable, can be used with a bassinet, can flip seat to parent face or world face. The fold is easy and doable with one hand, but the unfold, not so much unless you lay the whole thing on the ground first.

I don't know exactly how bad the condition is in your neighborhood, if it's not bad the joie nutmeg can still handle it but the ride might be a little bumpier. But if it's super uneven and a lot of deep cracks etc. then smaller wheels could get stuck. It's hard to judge over the internet imo. You could check it out in person and see based on any cracks between the tiles of the store. Another way a lot of people do is to have 2 strollers, a small one to keep in the car for shorter trips and a bigger one for walking where the terrain requires bigger wheels. Out of the ones you'd see in Target, joie has some of the better qualities, and is like a cheaper nuna. Their new joie kava actually has suspension in the seat, but it's also what makes the stroller heavier. But if you only want one stroller I feel like the only stroller that would fit the bill is the baby jogger city mini gt, which is still closer to 20lbs. But I don't know if Target has them in store. Or you could check out the thule spring that has the same weight and smaller fold, if there's a REI store near you. Both are 3 wheelers with good thick wheels and suspension, being 3 wheeled makes it lighter and easier to maneuver, and both have a one handed easy fold.

I also couldn't justify paying for a Nuna travel system but we did like the Nuna Triv. I was looking into the Joie Kava since it seemed like a Triv dupe but they have a 7 lb difference in weight, which is important to us! So now I'm thinking of just investing in a car seat that just has an infant insert so we don't have to buy twice? Not sure yet...

Yeah, the bassinet is pretty far in my rearview at this point...we didn't get the Aer until baby was almost a year old and there weren't any stores in my neighborhood (Forest Hills) I had trouble navigating with the Triv that I could have taken the Aer in instead - stuff like a 6 foot wide cookie shop wasn't happening no matter the stroller, that's a babywear only or send one parent in moment. We also used the rear-facing option on the triv til baby was like 11 months old, but I think that's one of those "what personality is your baby" things that you can never guess in advance. The bassinet era was when little guy was so small, I was prioritizing outside spaces due to concerns about picking up colds etc. I had a colleague at work who lives in midtown and had the Aer bassinet and lived in a walkup and loved it so you may could do bassinet with either. The Aer is narrower but I feel like the triv pivots better? I don't find myself in teeny stores very often these days. I've pushed both around a lot of museums and reached for the Triv to go to MoMA yesterday for the sake of steering. If the restaurant is truly small, I just fold the stroller outside the door. I will say the Aer stands on it's own easier when folded. Our local wee sushi joint we can fit the Triv between two tables as little guy's seat but smaller would be even easier.

yes I totally get that, I'm in the same boat right now tbh. So many things to consider. Another thing about the nuna triv that I forgot to mention is a lot of people in the reviews hate how easy it is to unfold, like some people say it just unfolds in their car trunk during a drive or something, because it doesn't have a latch on the side to keep it securely folded. Totally a whole other brand but lightweight and ease of folding, you can check out peg perego vivace or inglesina electa too.

Hey, I am basically you, but a year down the road. I live on the second floor (no elevator) and don't drive. I have (and recommend) the Nuna Triv Next with the regular Pipa car seat, which has the longest life of the Pipa line. You might be able to find an adaptor on Etsy for another car seat. I used the carseat in the stroller until my baby was about eight months and could sit up independently in the regular stroller seat. No base is required to be installed in the stroller or in the car. The bassinet attachment option isn't approved for use in my country, and I was fine with the car seat in its stead. The stroller itself folds up with an easy pull and lift of the handle. This can be done with one hand. It's light to carry up and down the stairs, and when folded takes up hardly any room. Upside: The stroller seat and car seat can be set to parent-facing or world-facing. The Minu does not have this functionality. (Don't know about the other one you mentioned.) Parent-facing is great because you can look at them, talk to them, keep an eye on them, and see what they're looking at. Studies have shown that young babies in world-facing mode experience a lot of anxiety. They also can have delayed language development. Many benefits to facing your child!! Plus they are cute af and you'll want to look at them. Downside: The basket has only a 10 lb weight limit. The mesh is not nearly as sturdy as those I've seen on the Uppababy line. Let me know if you have any questions!

I have the triv next as my only stroller, I live in a rural area and it doesn't go on the bumpy roads. I use it only for paved sidewalks and trails, grocery stores, coffee shops, etc. I really love that it's easy to maneuver, doesn't feel flimsy and is light enough for me to manage on my own. It takes up about half of my Mazda cx 5 trunk. If you are a big trail walker, you'll probably want a Bob as a secondary stroller which you can get second hand easily. Overall I've loved ours, I've treated it pretty rough the past year and it's still working great.

Yes! I think if I lived in the suburbs, I'd have cared a lot less about the type of stroller. However in NYC you really do need something that is fit for your specific use case. I got a Nuna because it's super light but doesn't feel flimsy and has an amazing one hand hold. I live in a walk up and use the subway a lot which equals A LOT of stairs. We looked at a few cheaper alternatives, but they were either heavy or flimsy.

We're in a suburban area so we mainly use it for walking around the neighborhood or trips to the zoo, etc. it doesn't feel flimsy and it's so easy to use. Especially freshly PP I was grateful it was easy for me to collapse and put in my trunk. We do have the bassinet and I don't think it's necessary, but it's nice to have depending on your lifestyle. I love to walk outside. I had my baby in early May and the bassinet has been great for morning walks because it's been warm in the mornings and the car seat attachment just gets sooooo hot in warm weather. It's basically insulated. She's much more comfortable in the bassinet. If I had my baby at a cooler time of year then I would probably skip it.

It's really a lifestyle question. I live in a walk up in NYC and use public transit a lot. So we got a Nuna Triv next, knowing we would go up and down stairs all the time. It's light and compact, but not quite a travel stroller. It also allowed for a bassinet attachment and parent facing seat. It also is small enough not to take up the whole trunk of our car. Overall very happy with that choice for our specific circumstances. If we lived in the burbs, I'd honestly get something cheap or on marketplace since you're driving everywhere anyway.

The new Joolz Aer2 has a full recline. Do you technically need a bassinet if it has a full recline and you are confident strapping the baby in? I think the nice thing about the Nuna Triv/Swiv is that the Lytl Bassinet comes with a stand. So you also get a portable travel and secondary bassinet. That is great for setting up a bassinet in a living room or office while one parent stays up with baby and the other parent gets protected sleep in the bedroom. However it's now a $500 retail, but i'm pretty sure you can buy on facebook market place and plan on selling it later to recoup most of the cost.

Wow, tied down! That's really unfortunate. You're welcome and I hope you find the stroller of your dreams. By the way, another feature that made me select this stroller is that it has the option to parent-face (as well as world-face). Parent-facing seats are a benefit to language development, cause less anxiety in children (according to studies), and it's nice to look at and chat with their little face as you explore the world together. Not many lightweight strollers have this ability at all. It's a big plus for me.

We have the Triv (Triv next wasn't out yet) and part of the reason we picked it was the collapsed size - our entryway is not that big, we're folding and lifting to store every time. Take measurements of where you're going to store it and compare it to the collapsed size.

I debated all of these and ultimately decided on the Nuna Triv due to the safety of the carseats that were compatible and the weight being easier to load in and out of a car. I live a suburban lifestyle in and out of cars a lot so that was most important to me. As an NYC resident, you might not need it to be so light as you're not hauling it in and out of cars as much. My cousin lives in NYC and swears by her Uppababy Vista being great for the ease of the ride and navigating the streets there. (Cruz would probably fare similarly!) I know there's a Bambi Baby store in Jersey that carries all the luxury brand strollers where you can try things out!

if you have a Graco car seat why not get a stroller that works with it? I'd personally go with baby jogger than graco strollers though, but that's a personal preference. But if you're not planning to use it as a travel system, if weight is what matters most to you then I'd do either nuna or joolz. It's true that nuna's quality isn't really up there compared to uppababy or cybex (depending on the cybex model), they're just more fashionable tbh. But with their weight and ease of use it is hard to beat. Joolz is much sturdier and better built, but I've heard both the fold and the suspension are pretty stiff on the joolz.

Are there any stores you can visit to try out strollers? It really does help to zip around with them in person. I have a Nuna Triv Next and I love it. I live on a second floor, accessed by stairs. This stroller rides smoothly and is lightweight, folds flat by simply lifting the handle (no buttons or levers), and is easy to push. I have taken it through winter snow and over bumpy ice without problem. I live in a metropolitan city and the stroller can definitely handle janky sidewalks and squeezing past people in narrow spots. There is a bassinet attachment, but in Canada (where I live) it's not available for sale. You can skip that by using a Nuna car seat as the seat until the child can sit up and use the regular stroller seat. Any Nuna Pipa car seat will fit it, and you don't need to buy any extra attachment for it.

We bought a Numa stroller to go with our car seat, and recently a GB pocket air. We really regret the numa since it was expensive, is massive, and we never use it. Whenever we go places or on neighborhood walks, I always just carry our son in the carrier. The Numa has been used once, so we're trying to sell it. We're hoping to travel more with the little guy this year, so that's what prompted the much cheaper GB pocket purchase. Folds up really small so you don't need to check it on the plane. Will probably be our main stroller if we ever need one when not traveling too.

General consensus is Joolz Aer usurped the yoyo for best lightweight travel stroller that fits in an airplane overhead. Swiv and triv are like light and easy to fold versions of the uppababy cruz. Triv/swiv allow the chair to face backwards towards a part which some people like during the transition out of the bassinet. Other parents don't care going straight to forward facing seats. The new joolz aer has a full recline which means you might be able skip buying a bassinet attachment if you feel comfortable strapping in the newborn. It seems like the hive mind 5 years ago was either yoyo or uppababy cruz. But these days it's definitely joolz aer, but a toss up between uppababy or nuna for the cruz/triv/swiv form factor. Cruz is harder to fold and bigger folded, but more durable. Triv/swiv is smaller folder, lighter, and has a one handed fold at the cost of durability. If you have an elevator building and storage space uppababy seems nice.... But if you need to carry a stroller up stairs in a walk up brownstone the lightweight nuna strollers might be a better option. I have both a swiv and aer+. I like having both for different types of outings. But probably should have gotten a used joolz aer to save money as a travel beater stroller.

When I was gear shopping I started at the top brand, and then worked my way down through the used market. So where I am the top brand stroller is Cybex, which is about 2000€-2500€ new. I kept my eye on the used market for Cybex and then researched anything someone would say was comparable. I eventually found a Nuna system used for 750€. All of our bottles, bottle warmer, and my pumps are used. At least 90% of our babies clothes are used as well. I got some great name brand stuff but I've bought it all at a fraction of the price.

NYC walk up resident here. If you plan on taking any public transit at all with the stroller you'll need something light. I have the 2nd smallest nuna (Triv) and honestly still struggle with stairs when alone. If stairs and transit are not part of your day, or your city actually has transit that's accessible, you're fine going heavier. You may also consider 2 strollers. One full size and one travel. Consider second hand as well for whichever you'll use less.
