I think investing in one is not a bad idea, I have two Honeywell HPA300's and they seem to do a good job of filtering smells. I think the biggest change you can make is investing in a MERV13 or above furnace filters. They'll do a lot better job at filtering the over all air in your home.

I live in a tall loft with ciment ceilings and it produces a lot of dust. I got a large Honeywell HEPA air purifier and it works very well. The carbon pre-filter can be vacuumed and there is a thick layer of hair and dust every week. The inner filters I vacuum every month and change them once a year.

Honeywell HEPA. Don't buy an electrostatic/ionizer type "purifier" as it creates O³ (ozone) - which is hazardous (and is also a component of smog).

This Honeywell HPA300 is a beast for allergies. It has an insanely high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), which means it clears out dust, pollen, and pet dander super fast. I've used it in my living room, and it noticeably reduced my sneezing and stuffy nose during allergy season. It's straightforward-no fancy features-but it gets the job done effectively.

Yes, an air purifier helps. The best brand is Honeywell with a HEPA filter. Second is Bionaire with True HEPA filter (purple one), third is Bionaire with the blue filter. Levoit kind of sucks. Don't waste your money on the Pure Enrichment Personal Air Purifier.

I've tried a few and the germ guardians are the best bang/buck. The big Honeywell ones if you have to do a BIG space. We have a Dyson and I don't love it.

I bought a Honeywell Allergen Plus about a month ago. It's pretty loud on the high setting (not too bad on low and not overly distracting watching tv on medium). My mom has 3 of them and we have to speak up when they're on high.🤣 https://a.co/d/gVc1g4k

I'd go with the Honeywell HPA300. It's got a true HEPA filter and works really well against smoke, dust, and allergens. It won't cover 2800 sq. ft. in one go, but for larger rooms (around 465 sq. ft.), it's a solid performer. If you're dealing with a big space, using multiple units could be a good workaround. If you want something that covers more area in one unit, you might want to check out Medify MA-112, but it's a bit pricier. Just depends on how you want to set things up. Hope that helps! check reddit thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ProductsDiscussion/comments/1jifddb/top\_4\_air\_purifiers\_to\_breathe\_clean\_in\_2025/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ProductsDiscussion/comments/1jifddb/top_4_air_purifiers_to_breathe_clean_in_2025/)

I am a costco fanatic but when I did my research, the best air purifier I found and bought was Honeywell HPA300. This does not produce ozone- important- and has a HEPA filter. Not available at Costco at the time, though. I believe I used consumer report ratings to choose.

I use the large room honeywell air purifiers. The one I have now has been running 24/7 for the last 5 years or so and is still trucking along. I use it because my wife and son smoke weed and smoke bothers me. It does a good job getting rid of the smoke and the amount of crap that is on the filter is amazing. I pretty much never have to dust.

Also check the clean air delivery rate (CADR). I used this site to search for what was good - https://ahamverifide.org/ahams-air-filtration-standards/ I went with a bunch of Honeywell HPA300 machines to cover multiple rooms several years ago and have been thrilled. They run 24/7 every day on low but that turbo speed for about an hour helps move the air through the room faster on highest pollen days. Turbo speed sound is not quiet at all, but the low setting is very quiet.

For general allergies like dust, I've had my Honeywell HPA300 for 4 years and it's great and I feel and smell the difference. Unfortunately, I have neighbours that smoke and spray icky stuff and it's not sufficient to get rid of that particularly if they're actively still doing it. The original filters particularly the carbon were amazing, but buying the original filters because so great. I got generic filters and it seems okay.

I use the Honeywell HPA 300. It is a bit pricy, but it does an amazing job on odors, and also a really good job on pet hair. One unit is not going to cover an entire house though. It is more like one unit per large room for pet hair issues.

+1 to the HPA300. I have 4 of them - 1 in each bedroom, 1 in entryway/dining, 1 in living room - all running for ... 7-8? years solid, 24/7. They are absolute powerhouses.

Honeywell HPA300 is an absolute unit. Not the prettiest thing but it WORKS. We have severe dust allergies and two shedding dogs, and this thing keeps our living room air surprisingly clean. It's a bit loud on high but the lower settings are fine for background noise. Filters are reasonably priced too.

That looks like a nice air purifier! And looks like they were trying to copy Blueair in the looks dept :-) . I personally despise Electrolux AB though.....bought an Electrolux UltraCaptic bagless canister vacuum in 2015 for messes I don't want to use my bagged canister vacuum on. Within 6 months of buying it, went to go buy spare filters and they were already discontinued!!! And this wasn't a cheapie from Wal Mart either - this was a $700 machine. I much prefer and use my Aerus Electrolux 6500SR bagged canister on a daily basis, and that machine will have EVERYTHING parts wise for decades to come. As for air purifiers, I have a Filter Queen Defender and a couple of the old Honeywell round HEPA air purifiers that work well in my household.

My Honeywell hepa filter is about ten years old now. The filter is clogged light has been on for years though (yes I've replaced the filter several times) These devices really should last a long time, it's just an electric motor.

I have two Honeywell large room air filters. They are sub $200. The filters are readily available. I blow them out with an air compressor outside and reuse them until I can't. I run them on low 24/7 and they have a turbo setting. They come in white or black. HPA 300 series Unless you want those electronic ones that have some dubious science imo. They are pretty much alll the same except for the filtered air per minute, filters, and number of pleats. The more pleats the less you need to change filters.

You can get a HEPA filter air purifier (Honeywell makes decent ones) to deal with PLA and TPU, they dont emit the toxic VOCs like ABS, Nylon and PC, but they do still emit fine particles. Having it enclosed like you do is going to prevent a lot of those fine particles from scattering through the room though so its a big help. As a rule I try to not have my printers in the same room I work, but if you must, that HEPA filter will help reduce the fine particles a lot. For the more toxic materials, absolute best bet is to create a negative air pressure environment while venting outside through a window or port. If you cant or want even more reassurance, running a carbon filter does a lot to help. There are specialized air purifiers for VOCs but theyre not cheap. A really good one you can get is from Heygears, called the GreenPrint Purification Unit. Just know it's specifically for VOCs as it doesn't trap particles, it destroys them (so you still want a HEPA for the fine particles). This air purifier doesnt need filters though, it doesnt trap VOCs like a carbon filter which can become saturated and need replacements. It actively breaks down VOCs, so it just runs indefinitely with full efficiency, no need to swap filters.

I have an air purifier that uses HPA300 HEPA Filters. It has an automatic setting that detects changes in air quality. It revs up to high when my husband passes gas at night and has saved us from having to sleep in different areas of the house.

Honeywell makes some good air purifiers that are quiet and have a dimmer function for nighttime. A little more expensive, but reliable. I have an HPA200 and HPA 300 that have been running 24/7 for years.
