> this was a big issue when they first came out; I assume they've fixed it by now Can confirm - it had a smell the first time I ran through a 15m air fryer cycle (empty, per the quick start instructions) and I haven't smelled anything since.
r/airfryer • Air fryer is slowly dying ->Yo, we were in the same boat not long ago - didn’t want any of that non-stick teflon coating bs, or plastic trays that smell weird when hot. Ended up grabbing the Instant Vortex Plus (stainless steel one) and it’s been solid. Trays are full stainless, no peeling, no coating drama. Cleans easy af. It just works. Been air frying the hell outta veggies, frozen stuff, chicken thighs, all that - and it's holding up like a champ. We also looked at the Cuisinart toaster oven w/ air fryer function - pretty sure you can swap the trays for stainless if needed. That one looks more like a real oven tho, more space but also bigger footprint on the counter. My advice? Skip anything that has non-stick unless you like scraping black flakes off your food in 6 months. Ask me how I know 😅 TL;DR: – Stainless trays or bust. – Instant Vortex Plus (SS version) been goin strong. – Avoid non-stick if you wanna keep your sanity.
r/BuyItForLife • Non-toxic air fryer, recommendations? Please share your favorites ->I have a basket type air fryer and an oven-type. I rarely use the basket type. I use the oven-type nearly every day. It is wonderful. And I cook anything in it that I decide to try; just experiment until get temperature, time, and location of tray to my exact liking and write it all down for future reference. Mine is older than this one, but it is an Instant Pot Vortex Plu. Highly recommend. r/airfryer • My old airfryer has bitten the dust so time for a new one. I'm seeing things like '4-in-1' (Ninja) to '13-in-1' (Phillips) cooking options..... what difference do these really do? ->Thanks for the reply. I have an Instant Pot Vortex Plus, which is great, but I often have to stage food and keep stuff warm, so want to try a dual. Might give the Paderno a try, it has good reviews and it's $150, wife likes blue.
r/airfryer • Paderno Vida Air Fryer ->Mine is the Instant Vortex. Slightly smaller than a standard microwave. Has two shelves. I use it for so much. Its great for chicken thighs, sausages, raw vegetables, making toast. And of course also from freezer to plate items. It heats up leftovers 10x better than a microwave. Pizza and fries especially.
r/glutenfree • Air fryer must have? ->Ours just died after using it almost every day for two years, which is why I’m in this thread. We liked it quite a bit, but agree with Wirecutter’s criticism that the Instant Vortex’s user interface is crap - it’s just a cheap touchscreen with poor sensitivity. I’m looking at other models now - the Instant Vortex was a lovely gift but I don’t think I want to buy another.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Air Fryer to Buy Now? ->Philips, Instant Pot/Vortex, and Cosori are all better than Ninja. Ninja has bad non-stack and low power.
r/airfryer • Why do you guys prefer dual air fyers? ->My 10qt Instapot one has been just fine. Like my regular pressure cooker instapot and ninja creami I just do not use 90% of the settings on it :)
r/airfryer • Air fryers that look like toaster ovens. Any good? ->Just bought this to replace my Instant Vortex. I was looking for a ceramic basket fryer and this looked to be the best one I found, especially for the price. I haven't used it enough yet to really evaluate, but so far it seems great, and also looks good on my countertop. It's very compact for it's capacity. I few things I miss from my Vortex is the shake/flip alert, which is such an easy thing to include that I don't know why all fryers don't have this. The other thing I miss from my vortex is the knob, which makes it so much faster to dial in the temp/time. I'm still debating whether I miss the window or not. It's sometimes useful, but not sure if it's really a crucial feature. But otherwise it's a great air fryer.
r/airfryer • Loving my Cosori TurboBlaze - 450F is key. ->Thanks for your input! We have one of those instant pot vortex air fryers, just with a different label on the front. The house we are moving into has fairly new appliances. They were bought in '22 I believe but it's just the two of us and a dog so we don't often like using the oven if we can help it. I'll take a look at the Bella air fryer! I guess air fryers themselves aren't that expensive. If I'm going to spend $500 on appliances, I might as well look at a combi oven too 😂
r/airfryer • Buying new appliances, should I get a dedicated air fryer and/or countertop oven? ->I absolutely love mine. I have the instant vortex. The fry basket rotisserie attachment alone is worth it to me. However. Look at multiple UNBIASED reviews. They are not all created equal. But if you don't want to do that type of research. You want one that is an air fryer first that also has other settings and NOT a convection oven that also has an air fryer setting. They are not the same.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →there are a lot of airfryer brands, what you have to understand is what it really does, each has its own benefit, I prefer using named brands for it, we have a few of them in our rental properties. Ill be giving you some of those we have with its pros and cons. [Instant pot](https://s.shopee.ph/2B0UdNkodg): the 6 in 1 is the more budget version, 5.7 liters, the machine does tempreture well, you can roast, great for fries but its only up to 400, always remember to preheat your air fryer. can cook from frozen, i do this with french fries and does well with dehydration [Instant pot 7 in 1](https://s.shopee.ph/3VVsDy3JqP), is a better product imo, why, you can see as there is a glass there, nakikita mo siya ano nangyayari, how many times ko binubuksan yn air fryer just to check and that makes the heat go down. larger capacity siya and still hangan 400 lang siya. malaki siya, kung maliit kitchen mo i would not recommend. [Oster](https://s.shopee.ph/1VknqQy16C), been few months in one rental property, cant say much but has glass window, so nakikita mo yn pagkain, no need to open, bigger benefit is that it can heat up to a higher degree, 450 siya not the 400 na lagi sa iba, item felt flimsy though but works well, no dehydration system. [Dowell](https://s.shopee.ph/VsGejysLf), small, quite plastic centric, small foot print, and all manual. only up to 392 F. good enough if food is not that much [Perrymisth](https://s.shopee.ph/9zjLyIhb5r), cheapest brand i would trust, up to 392 F, knobb type and no dehydrator, good enough if you just want to cook and are not asking for anything else. r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →My plus has been running great for over a year now
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →The instant vortex has option turn the beep sound off
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →This checks out, I have a instant pot vortex, got it bc it seemed like the most highly recommended one that wasn't a dual zone or an oven style one
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →I purchased the same Vortex Plus with front window from a thrift store with the "Close Basket" error. The only solution for me was to open the unit and replace the micro switch. When you close the door, a cone shaped extension, visible on the top front center housing, gets pushed up to the micro switch. If the micro switch is faulty, you'll always get the "Close Basket" error. This used unit has been working for close to 2 years.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →I have the same one and the same issue. I managed to figure out the trick to use it. After you put the basket back in keep your hand on the handle then put your thumb on the top of the air fryer just below the button/knob and press down with it while pulling the basket handle up. Works for me every time. Still not great it happens but at least it becomes usable.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →I bought one back in July and since I unpacked it I haven’t used my oven once. There may be better ones but it’s worked well for me. I like the dial to change time and temp.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →Xiaomi air fryer pro 4L. I no longer have it as I threw it away and bought the insta vortex plus.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →I have not had this experience. I started with a ninja basket type. When I was looking for a bigger one, but similar style I got the instapot vortex (no window) and find the performance of both basically the same. Used each for over a year, so it’s not a one-off experience.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →If may budget ka is [Instant Pot Vortex](https://s.shopee.ph/VsGwNfKWA) ang best option. Top air fryer iyan sa UK and medyo na-didiscover na rin sa Philippine. Bumili kami dahil ni-recommend siya ng tita ko and 4 years na namin gamit. 7 iyong pre-set functions niya kaya versatile talaga.
r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →The instant pot vortex one is quite on sale right now and works well. I would also get a small microwave if you do lots of little things that require that.
r/Cooking • View on Reddit →[Instant Pot](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.qfGqU) brand ng air fryer oven namin. We changed also to air fryer kasi may hypertension and heart disease ang senior parents ko
r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →Unfortunately, there are many recent buyers who have had terrible issues with this exact air fryer. Apparently, InstantPot was purchased by a private equity firm, so their current models are not living up to their past reputation. We actually bought that air fryer a few years ago due to an America's Test Kitchen recommendation, and it's been great. If (when) it ever dies, we won't be replacing it with another InstantPot.
r/weightwatchers • View on Reddit →As a general thing, I think toaster oven style are mostly a bit nicer to use and more flexible. The one exception to this is you can get dual basket air fryers that make cooking different foods at the same time easier. With a oven style you have to choose carefully/are limited in what part of a meal you are making. But oven style with trays just seem easier to deal with, there's none of the awkward shape or difficulty loading/unloading foods with trays. Turning food over is simpler if you don't want to be rough with it i.e. something breaded where just shaking the basket is going to knock everything off or break it up (tater tots). If you have only one tray with food on it, just put on tray on top of the other and flip the whole thing and stick it back in. Trays also give you a bit more use of the space since you have multiple levels, not just the bottom. I know some baskets you can put a trivet or something in if you can find something that fits, but it's intrinsic with oven styles. The Vortex Pro specifically also has a rotisserie cage and a spit that comes with it which can be used for many things beyond just a chicken. I'm sure it's not the only one, but it is a feature I know it has that not all do. And you can use a oven style one...well, as an toaster and oven easily. The shape is less confining of the uses. Cleanup is probably a split decision...cleaning the trays is easier, and less work, but if you regularly clean the entire interior, that's more work than just cleaning a basket. But I'm sure pricing needs to be a factor...I have a friend that got a Breville, but I don't know if I would have gotten that as my first air fryer because of the price. I might be convinced to spend on it once my Vortex Pro dies.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →I have the Instant Vortex Plus. It's the most used item in my kitchen, bar none.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →Kettle: Xiaomi We've had ours for 2 years, used everyday. No issues. Airfryer: Instantpot Vortex Used regularly for months now, works great. I like the oven style and tray vs basket style because easier to clean. I just pop the trays in a dishwasher along with the dishes. It also automatically preheats and dings to remind you the preheating is done.
r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →Ah shit well I’m definitely not buying anymore of their products, the instant pot and air fryer I already have will stay but once they stop working I’ll go with another brand
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →for ease of cleanup, I’d say go with the ones with a basket, not the ones that double as ovens. The basket can be taken out and washed. The oven style don’t work as well for air frying and are hard to clean. We got an Instant Pot Vortex Plus and loved it. we found that we could cook so many things and started cooking rather than going out to eat because it was so much faster. Eventually that one had to be replaced when the display failed but we definitely got our $125.00 worth out of it. We replaced it with a Ninja Crispi Pro and it has been good too. We like that it has a glass basket. That is easy to clean and doesn’t have the non-stick coating that might be of concern for some.
r/AirFryers • View on Reddit →Yeah, replaced our Instant Pot Vortex with one and its been excellent, lots easier to clean too.
r/Costco • View on Reddit →but if you have the budget, go for the[ instant pot vortex,](https://s.shopee.ph/1g9ZVD3lY0) got a lot of features, though one problem is cleaning as well, you have to use tongs if hot to remove the draining mechanism, but this thing really removes everything with it, you dont need preheating wait, it tells you, you dont need to second guess, ive used it for a few times already and it does. I need to finihs the testing for the mosquito killers and would be doing the inductions next for that. the [Instant pot vortex ](https://s.shopee.ph/1g9ZVD3lY0)is very good, cooks well, even tells you when to flip. affiliate link posted plus picture of the unit https://preview.redd.it/k4zbaw8bfvrf1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86a4aabcfd392d9560a663b1d2aff430ea62826e
r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →I have an Instant Vortex and its been great for years!
r/EatCheapAndHealthy • View on Reddit →100% recommend the Instant Pot if using for an oven too. It's big at 10qt and has racks like an actual oven instead of a basket. I've never used the rotisserie but still think it's worth it. The loudest noise it makes is the beep for when it's up to temp or finished, but you might be able to change the volume? Never been an issue for me so haven't looked into that. And it's cheap on Amazon right now! https://a.co/d/aSC9WEB
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →Same issue, same instant vortex, just outside of warranty. We took it completely apart. The switching mechanism for the door is super cheap and fails with heat. To be honest, the entire unit was pretty cheaply built and not meant to be serviced. We bypassed the door switch and everything works fine now. Probably took us more time than money saved but we hate throwing stuff away. As for their customer service, when we had things fail under the warranty period they were pretty good about just sending us replacements. I probably had the receipt, I don't recall. That was also over a year ago, probably longer. I definitely agree having seen the unit inside and out, it is indeed cheaply designed and will fail far sooner than one would like. It was very obvious it was designed to be a consumable.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →For durability, nothing beats a [PHilips](https://s.shopee.ph/5L2rpImD1M), Ive had mine for years now, its mechanical, so less parts for repair, but its a bit small, it can handle most things but unlike the digital, you are doing guess work regarding when to place the food as preheating is done, i do 3 minutes with mine, regarding cleaning,. its easier than most, you press a button and the tray seperates, kahit yn iba mahal, it wont do that. but may trade offs din isa pa yn size nya. but regardings longevity, Philips is great. we are using [midea ](https://s.shopee.ph/50Q1QfEgTp)din, its not bad, good size, good looks and mech din, its another option but it wont remove tray as easily as the Philips. affiliate link posted plus pictures of the unit https://preview.redd.it/xos1b4ef8vrf1.png?width=2019&format=png&auto=webp&s=f5132d1045efa9f213c3e0beb05233934399abd6
r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →I’ve has the [Instant Pot Vortex Plus](https://a.co/d/bkdMZrt) for going on 6 years and it’s great, I’ve bought several as house warming and Christmas gifts. Everyone always says it’s amazing
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Di ko alam price now, but we use the instant pot vortex, yung may roleta sa loob 3 layer frying pa kaya very convenient The cleaning is pretty much similar to an oven, nadedetach din yung catch at front cover kaya madali lang
r/Tech_Philippines • View on Reddit →I bought a basket model and hated it, they hold a lot less food and the risk of getting burned is higher when you have to turn your food. I bought an Instant Vortex 10 that is oven door style in the summer of 2019, use it daily. My convection oven only gets used for pizza because of size
r/EatCheapAndHealthy • View on Reddit →Sorry for your expensive. I've had 4 different types and brands of air fryer. My instant vortex is my favorite by a large margin, and been going strong for over 2 years.
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →Instant pot vortex plus 10 qt is amazing! 2 shelves, a basket that constantly turns (fries come out amazing without turning) and a rotisserie spit for a smaller whole chicken. I no longer use oven or stove and rarely microwave due to this and my IP pressure cookers.
r/Cooking • View on Reddit →Pretty happy with our Instant Pot Vortex. Decent size, easy to clean, easy to use. And it's held up now for about 2-3 years with almost daily use, so that's saying something.
r/Cooking • View on Reddit →I recommend getting an air fryer similar to this [one](https://a.co/d/gLPcSmC). It works as an air fryer and mini oven. I picked the one linked second-hand off of Facebook Marketplace for $50 when I had to temporarily moved in with a friend. We split his house in two. Leaving him the downstairs - set up like a bachelor apartment, while my family moved in the upstairs. We took the door off of the master bedroom and set it up as our living room with a kitchenette in the 1 corner. For almost 2 years I cooked everything for my family using a microwave, instant pot and air fryer. Now that we have moved into our own apartment, I still find that we use this air fryer almost daily.
r/Cooking • View on Reddit →I did some research and a few people who's opinion I trust seem to prefer the basket type. I'm now on my 3rd one. We are a family of 3 and the 6 quart size fits us best. Somebody said that if you buy one to big, it still works. If you buy one to small, you can't make it bigger. I had a bad experience with zero support from my last one. It was a brand called Bella. I would avoid them like the plague Just got an Instant brand Vortex Plus (same folks who made my Instant Pot) and I love it. It has better circulation than either of my other two. It is fun to use, and beautifully engineered. I got it on Amazon for $79, I think the regular price was $99
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →[Instant Pot](https://s.shopee.ph/AUislZZh2b). We bought the older version ng Air Fryer nila sa Mall 3 years ago and hanggang ngayon nagagamit pa rin namin. But wipes lang pinanglilinis namin. And upon checking is diyan din sa Vortex Plus. Affiliate link posted. https://preview.redd.it/t0liy6ja6ubf1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a70acbae0863fe28a1576a70ddaec1bd61fb2bb
r/ShopeePH • View on Reddit →I hate my Xiaomi the Teflon is utter trash which makes cleaning it a chore. Owned a Cosori before it and now bought a Insta Vortex Plus. They use good Teflon unlike the Xiaomi
r/airfryer • View on Reddit →If you’re cooking small meals, a single basket like the Ninja AF101 or Instant Vortex does the job well. Duals are great for variety but take more space. Go Ninja if you want durability, Instant if you want presets and ease.
