Instant Pot - Vortex Plus ClearCook + OdorErase

Unfortunately, there are many recent buyers who have had terrible issues with this exact air fryer. Apparently, InstantPot was purchased by a private equity firm, so their current models are not living up to their past reputation. We actually bought that air fryer a few years ago due to an America's Test Kitchen recommendation, and it's been great. If (when) it ever dies, we won't be replacing it with another InstantPot.

If you're cooking small meals, a single basket like the Ninja AF101 or Instant Vortex does the job well. Duals are great for variety but take more space. Go Ninja if you want durability, Instant if you want presets and ease.

America Test Kitchen made a review. They recommended the instant vortex clear 6 liter. I bought one and also recommend, but it's my first so i have no comparison.

This checks out, I have a instant pot vortex, got it bc it seemed like the most highly recommended one that wasn't a dual zone or an oven style one

What kind of air fryer is it? What are you trying to cook? I have the Instant Pot Vortex Plus. The machine turns on when you insert the basket and then you select what function, temperature and cooking time you want and push start. The machine then will run for a couple of minutes and then beep and say on the screen to add food. You don't have to factor in the preheat time in the cooking time as it does it automatically. Halfway through the cooking time it will beep and say turn food. When it reaches the end of the set time it stops and you can remove the food. If the food needs more time you can start it up again for however long you think it needs. Kind of like using a microwave. I usually just put my food in my air fryer and insert the basket and let it just be in there during the brief reheating time. When it says to turn food I pull the basket out and either shake it or turn over the food and put it back in. On my air fryer you can pull the basket out whenever you want and the cooking will pause and restart when you insert the basket unless you cancel the cooking cycle or unplug the machine.

Same I love my instant vortex for the windows and ease of use, but it doesnt convert the 2 baskets into one.

The instant vortex has option turn the beep sound off

I got the Instant Pot Vortex Plus last Christmas and I have used it quite a bit. It isn't great for everything so I wouldn't consider it the only tging you need in your kitchen. I read you should not use many cooking sprays on the non-stick coating in an air fryer so I got an inexpensive spray bottle and put vegetable oil in it to spray my air fryer or food in it. I usually don't bother preheating my air fryer before putting my food in. It just sits in the air fryer during the preheating time. I did not use liners for a long time but got some silicone liners for my air fryer recently. I did not find clean up too hard without them but they are nice to have.

We got ours from a relative who couldn't get rid of the smell. After a few cycles at 400° the odor went away for us. But I think some folks are more sensitive to the plastic smell than others.

My plus has been running great for over a year now

Kettle: Xiaomi We've had ours for 2 years, used everyday. No issues. Airfryer: Instantpot Vortex Used regularly for months now, works great. I like the oven style and tray vs basket style because easier to clean. I just pop the trays in a dishwasher along with the dishes. It also automatically preheats and dings to remind you the preheating is done.

Instant Vortex is wonderful.

The grease filters pick up a lot of grease although you can still smell some odor while cooking. Since the basket and tray are non-stick they eventually wear out as do all non-stick surfaces. Ironically Instant Brands was so successful that it went bankrupt. Turns out their products were so popular that everyone had one so sales dropped. They have been purchased by **Centre Lane Partners**.

I bought one back in July and since I unpacked it I haven't used my oven once. There may be better ones but it's worked well for me. I like the dial to change time and temp.

I have not had this experience. I started with a ninja basket type. When I was looking for a bigger one, but similar style I got the instapot vortex (no window) and find the performance of both basically the same. Used each for over a year, so it's not a one-off experience.

I hate my Xiaomi the Teflon is utter trash which makes cleaning it a chore. Owned a Cosori before it and now bought a Insta Vortex Plus. They use good Teflon unlike the Xiaomi

I purchased the same Vortex Plus with front window from a thrift store with the "Close Basket" error. The only solution for me was to open the unit and replace the micro switch. When you close the door, a cone shaped extension, visible on the top front center housing, gets pushed up to the micro switch. If the micro switch is faulty, you'll always get the "Close Basket" error. This used unit has been working for close to 2 years.

for ease of cleanup, I'd say go with the ones with a basket, not the ones that double as ovens. The basket can be taken out and washed. The oven style don't work as well for air frying and are hard to clean. We got an Instant Pot Vortex Plus and loved it. we found that we could cook so many things and started cooking rather than going out to eat because it was so much faster. Eventually that one had to be replaced when the display failed but we definitely got our $125.00 worth out of it. We replaced it with a Ninja Crispi Pro and it has been good too. We like that it has a glass basket. That is easy to clean and doesn't have the non-stick coating that might be of concern for some.

Instant Vortex 6 qt. I have cooked a whole chicken, wings, and they have come out delicious. They also excel at reheating frozen foods. A comment above also reminded me that my MIL was so excited to get an air fryer and she did not believe me that her CONVECTION OVEN already did the same thing 🙄She also doesn't understand how the thanksgiving turkey gets done so much faster when I do it (I use the convection oven)

Pretty happy with our Instant Pot Vortex. Decent size, easy to clean, easy to use. And it's held up now for about 2-3 years with almost daily use, so that's saying something.

Yeah, replaced our Instant Pot Vortex with one and its been excellent, lots easier to clean too.

Just bought this to replace my Instant Vortex. I was looking for a ceramic basket fryer and this looked to be the best one I found, especially for the price. I haven't used it enough yet to really evaluate, but so far it seems great, and also looks good on my countertop. It's very compact for it's capacity. I few things I miss from my Vortex is the shake/flip alert, which is such an easy thing to include that I don't know why all fryers don't have this. The other thing I miss from my vortex is the knob, which makes it so much faster to dial in the temp/time. I'm still debating whether I miss the window or not. It's sometimes useful, but not sure if it's really a crucial feature. But otherwise it's a great air fryer.

Thanks for the reply. I have an Instant Pot Vortex Plus, which is great, but I often have to stage food and keep stuff warm, so want to try a dual. Might give the Paderno a try, it has good reviews and it's $150, wife likes blue.

I was looking at this one too, the design really looks ideal, but the heat comes from behind, which I didn't like. Fist off is to ask yourself if you really require dual basket or not. If not I'd suggest a 6qt basket design like the Instant Pot Vortex 6qt with Odor Ease, this is hands down the best designed, most feature packed air fryer right now at that size and price point. They have a dual basket model as well. If you prefer a ceramic fryer, check out the Corsori TurboBlaze. It lacks some features compared to the Vortex, but is also excellent. I have tried Ninja air fryers before and was not impressed with the features and build quality.
