Breville counter top. Love mine, I haven't used my oven since I got it. We keep the house very cool and the proof setting for bread is a game changer. Roasted veggies awesome

Second this. Mine exactly fits a 9x13 pan with handles, which is perfect. However it is not very good at making toast, so don't replace your toaster. However I have heard mixed reliability; I don't expect it to last "for life" but barring a lemon, it would definitely last more than a year. Mine is three or four years old, used at least five times a week, and still doing fine.

Yup 100%. We use it almost everyday instead of a traditional oven as a traditional oven takes a long time to heat up. If I had a do-over I'd get the larger Breville unit. Also we don't have a microwave. I just huck stuff in the Breville and set the timer and forget it. I've never done much raw stuff in it other than to roast vegetables. But works great for that as well.

Another vote for Breville. Have one of the smart ovens, and it's been used daily (sometimes multiple times a day) for a little over a year now without issue. It's been flawless. It's so good that my full size oven is rarely used.

Definitely the Breville Smart Oven, it has a ton of space which is super useful for cooking bigger things like chicken.

My wife swears by the [Breville Smart Oven](https://productbible.com/product/breville-smart-oven-air-fryer-pro). she uses it to make fish a couple times a week (which always comes out perfect) and roasting veggies takes half the time our old oven took.

I got mine used for $8, but it's a little quirky, hence the reason it was at a thrift store outlet. If you can get past the occasional double button presses it works fine.

I have a Breville smart Air fryer Pro. I see it's on sale for $319 at some places. I've had it for probably a decade and it's replaced my "real" oven.

I have the breville smart oven and I concur. It's a great second oven especially during the holidays or summer heat (I keep it in our attached garage) but every time I "air fry" something I always think this cannot be it. Then I purchased a ninja flip air fryer/oven for our place Up north and that was much better but still have the same thought it cannot be true. Now I'm considering the Ninja Crisp for the house. What do you think of that model?

Try the Breville Smart Oven Pro (with air fryer). I don't really think you need the air fryer upgrade, I've had the regular for 10 years and I just use the convection setting and an air fryer basket from Amazon, but you could get the air-fryer-specific one.

Any air fryer is a "convection cooker." The "air fryer" name is a sales gimmick. Just like the "instant pot" label is a gimmick for a pressure cooker. I have owned a Breville Smart Oven for several years and would buy another one. I also have a Ninja upright in my second home. I like the Breville better, but the Ninja is fine. I cook a lot. I have a high end stove with a convection oven. If it were me, I would keep it. The Breville does everything that your toaster oven does, but better and faster. It also can roast and bake without having to use your regular convection oven. Of all the countertop "convection" ovens, it is probably the best. This was a very thoughtful gift from your relatives. As far as cooking with it, we love chicken wings. The Breville cooks the best chicken wings fairly fast and better than a regular convection oven and roasts vegetables beautifully. (Probably because of the smaller cubic area.) Also reheating on the Air Fryer mode is a game changer, much better than your microwave. To use it well, you do need to familiarize yourself on how it works. Watch some YouTube videos where the Breville is used. Read the instructions so you can learn how to use the various modes. Familiarize yourself with it before making a decision to return it and by all means, go ahead and treat yourself to a carbon steel wok as well. It is not an either or proposition. You deserve both!

I have the breville smart oven air, it's not a great airfryer. But it's so much more versatile. I use mine for making bacon in the morning, roasting vegetables, I've even put my entire 7qt Dutch oven in there and slow cooked carnitas and made caramelized onions. Cooking frozen pizza works nicely as well. We've also made beef jerky in there and char sui too. It's also great as a warmer to hot hold things like when I smoke a brisket.

There is no such thing as "buying for life" with appliances. Lost count of the number of refrigerators, dishwashers and ranges I've had to replace over time. Buying higher quality items, such as the Breville smart oven, will reduce the frequency of replacement. Might make it to 10 years but the Ninja likely would not. Drawer air fryers are almost always going to be better than an oven air fryer. Most are cheaply made though and will fail sooner. My well reviewed Instant Pot is already on the way to the grave after a few years as the LCD display is failing. As for drying out depends on what you are cooking. Cooked chicken legs last night. Since they have a lot of fat no problem with it drying out. Crisp skin and moist interior.

I have a breville air pro and love it. I rarely use my "real" oven. I roast chicken, bake, toast, dehydrate, I love it. It's old (ten years? ) and I've had to open it and fix the switch that tells when the door is closed, even now I have to close the door while giving the side a whack like the Fonz on a juke box (am I dating myself?). But if it were stolen, I'd buy it again in a heart beat. In fact I'm designing a "tiny home" and intend to put in a breville instead of a full oven.

I have a Breville Air Pro. It's more of a toaster oven then air fryer but it does air fry. It's replaced my main oven and honestly I love it. Makes great toast too. I can bake a pizza in it, roast a chicken, and it even dehydrates. It heats up fast and is small so it doesn't heat the whole kitchen like the big one does. It's often used for roasting veggies or potatoes as a side dish.

They are more expensive than the standard bucket type air fryer, but Breville "Smart Oven Air Fryer" is pretty solid. Great oven for smaller portion meals, toaster, broiler if you need it every now and then, and does a good job at air frying too. Note: air fryer instructions will take slightly longer than advertised on packages because heat isn't as concentrated as the "bucket style" air fryers. Just a lot more versatile than the basic air fryer, but like I said more pricey as well. Currently $320 on Amazon, but I use ours a lot more than I do the oven just because it's smaller and faster for most things.

We leave things on top that don't get hot like a metal cooking tong to pull things out after cooking, an air fryer basket when not in use -- so I don't think it would be an issue.

I have a Viking microwave with a built in convection oven which is basically the same thing as an air fryer, and the oven function is trash. I used it once and never again. I don't know how much the technology of these types of combo gadgets has improved since we got our microwave (15ish years), but you're better off just getting separate devices. I think the Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro is basically one of the top of the line, but it comes with a hefty price tag. I personally use a very basic Gourmia, and it's fine. No fancy bells and whistles, but it'll get the job done.

If you have the space I love my Breville air fryer/oven combo I joke that if we ever had an emergency evacuation I would grab that over the kids🤣 It's nice bc you can do big basket/trays of food. Also it cooks a whole roaster chicken extremely nicely If you regularly cook this can easily replace 3 appliances...

I have had a Philips XXL for over 5 years. It's been good but not big enough. We recently got the Breville smart oven airfare pro. So far we are liking it. We are keeping the Philips too. But the Breville has worked really nice. In fact we need to adjust times from how we did things in the Philips

I have the Breville Joule air fryer and it's great and big enough to handle whatever I want to air fry or roast for that matter. But the air fryer that I used to have is a Phillips and it was just for air frying and I loved that it was an XXL. It was absolutely the best.

As long as you can fit what you need to in it, it will work. honestly it's not a great air fryer (although I've never used a real airfryer), however as a toaster, oven and most everything else it says it does, it does it well.

We went with the smaller Breville Smart Air fryer Toaster Oven-just the right size for our smaller kitchen-I hardly ever microwave anything. If I make soup or stew and have leftovers I pop them in the fridge in the dutch oven and reheat on the stovetop.

FYI, the Breville Smart Ovens aren't very good air fryers. At least the larger ones aren't. But as an oven they're top notch. I literally have not used my regular oven in over a decade because the smart oven I have is all I need.

I've owned the Breville Smart oven. Air fryers in general are toaster ovens and a lot more. With the toaster oven versions you get the best of both worlds. The Breville if it's got a pizza setting used to love it for making homemade pizzas and frozen pizzas. I replaced my Breville for a Anova steamer oven which I hardly never use the Steam function lol. Anyway it's a good air fryer oven your family member got you well worth every penny

There have been many posts searching for a "non-toxic" air fryer. Don't really understand it. I am extremely chemically sensitive but I have absolutely no problem with teflon coatings. Haven't seen any posts about health issues with teflon with their air fryer other than the obvious ones such as the coating failing. Top reviewed fryer is the Instant Pot Vortex Plus 6QT. It is relatively cheaply made so the LCD display is failing but I can still use it. Double baskets have limitations. The Breville oven style is a high quality expensive product but not as good at air frying.

I have a number of Breville products. They are very high quality and I assume their combo oven/fryer is the same. Combo ovens do not do as good a job as dedicated air fryers. Personally I got the top rated, unfortunately cheaply made, air fryer. Wanted a good one and I will replace it when needed.

I've been gradually switching most of my appliances to Breville because I really like the brand's quality and having matching pieces at home. The Smart Oven Air Fryer, which is 30% larger than the Smart Oven Pro, would be my pick. I found a great resource on another subreddit where you can [compare the specs of different air fryers](https://www.reddit.com/user/No-Competition-5766/comments/1i5jdq2/air_fryer_models_comparison_spreadsheet/). Worth checking it out when comparing options.
