I would avoid GoPro Hero 10 or beyond. Those are the only Hero cameras I have experience with and they're a huge PITA especially for motorcycling. It either doesn't turn on, doesn't record, or records with no audio ALL THE TIME. If you happen to notice it's not turning on, then you get to pull over, take your helmet off, unmount the camera, and fiddle with it until you figure out what's not working. Usually requiring you to remove and reinsert the battery. It's the most frustrating thing ever on a bike and I'd argue dangerous since you're preoccupied with the camera instead of your ride. I tried working with a Hero 10 and 11 for over 2 years before I swore them off forever. I recently switched to Insta360 and couldn't be happier. The Insta has literally not one time malfunctioned or not recorded when I pressed the button. I also have an old DJI Osmo Action that never had reliability issues. I would say any Osmo Action gen or the previous gen Insta360 (R One or something like that I cant' remember the name) would do the job well. If part of its job is dashcam you might also consider a 360 camera. You'll have way butter luck catching incidents with it than a regular action cam. I also have a GoPro 360 MAX camera. Unlike the Hero cameras, it's been great. It's still glitchy at times but nowhere near the regularity of the Hero cameras. It's kind long in the tooth now too so you may be able to find them on a good deal somewhere.

I just tried my old osmo mobile 5 withe the action 5 pro, but it is nowhere strong enough to handle the cam. So sorry, but that doesnt work as a budget solution. Personally I kinde of dodged that problem by simply getting a pocket3 and an action5. but that is of course as far from a budget solution as it gets.

The dji neo (vlog) drone might be an alternative. I use mine as a flying tripod alot. It has full Person tracking. Static from one point or even as a following cam. Image quality is not as goid as the Action 5, but also not as Bad as many people say it is. Just takes a bit more effort to get it good. And it is Budget at about 130 USD.

If you are a videographer you of course know that you can totally get away with using actioncams for BTS. Done that a lot of times for online and TV productions, and is is pretty common to do that. Not of all of us are Ridley Scott. Personally I reall like the nano for its form factor. you can mount it pretty much anywhere and is is quite unobstrusive. Which is a big plus for behind the scene footage. You have to keep in mind that the runtime of the nano owthout the vision dojc is significantly shorter and it does have to get recharged on the dock pretty much every hour or so if you dont want to risk it shutting down in wrong moment. Also it does get pretty warm over time if you set it to record in the max bitrate. Real life performances of the nano: 1.5 hours, body mounted, indoors, low light mode (blacklighted room), no problems at all 1 hour, 240fps / 1080p, body mounted outdoors, no problem In terms of quality I can only compare it to my action 5 pro, and they are both on par under all conditions. And that is still pretty much comparable with the Action 6. The 6 has of course a better performance in low light which might be a key factor in BTS applications. In conclusion the nano is fine if you use it in a way and for a purpose that it is fit for. Like POV mount, fire and forget. For point and shoot I'd opt for the Action 5/6.

GoPro has been on the bottom of the list for a couple years. I personally use a DJI action 5 but if someone handed me an insta360 ace pro 2 I wouldn't be mad. The older versions are a little cheaper and still as capable(or more) as the latest GoPro.

dude, action 5 has a literal color temperature sensor built into the letter "o" in front of the camera. It's the most accurate color you can get under water. It doesn't "overdo the blue correction". It seems that your perspective is just messed up by the overly unnaturally warm colors of the gopro. Just because you like the false warm colors of gopro doesn't make them more accurate. I also like warm colors, but when it comes to color accuracy, gopro is the worst of these examples.

I would choose action 5, but I'm heavily biased. I used to be a big-time gopro fanboy (used all the versions from 6 to 12), but they didn't make it very easy. Switched over to Osmo Action like a year ago and haven't looked back since. Gopro has always had a lot of overheating issues, corrupt files, crashing issues, super unresponsive UI, and horrible battery life. Sure, gopro does produce a little bit better quality video, but this is also arguable. action 5 has a bigger sensor and therefore a better lowlight performance, prolly also better dynamic range, but I haven't really checked that dynamic range data specifically. Gopro does a little bit larger bitrate, so yeah, gopro wins in resolution and technical quality, but osmo action has significantly better battery life, better low light performance, and OMG it's just sooo much more reliable. After using action 4 for 1 year, I've had 0 crashes and 0 overheating issues. Constantly got those issues with gopro. Stabilization is arguably better in gopro, but there isn't much difference to be honest Also action 5 quick release system is superior to gopro in every single way. Gopro has dji beat only in two things - maybe like 5% better picture quality, and brand recognition.

Two microphones wireless and action cam. The DJI Action 5 pro and the DJI mic mini2 together make a great package. Getting your lens to be as linear as you are asking might be the biggest hangup. The A5 has some different view settings but you'll have to see for yourself. The sensor in the A5 also is bigger than GoPro and works much better in low light. Good luck!

Go pro. I had the DJI it sucked. Just awful. Spend the money to get good photos. Also make sure to not only focus on the puctures, you miss so much trying to capture an image that you ignore the actual experience. Set the camera down and dive, see the reactions of the wildlife, watch the sun get blocked out when you are surrounded by a school of fish, move with the waves and see what the coral hides, entire eco systems will be missed by you trying to get a good photo. Create experiences and memories, put the camera down and start living.

Even if you're not a diver, I would still go with the Action. You can crop and still have vertical footage. The Pocket 3 vertical shooting is 3K. Most people aren't going to notice the difference if you crop vertically with the Action 5 unless you heavily zoom in. I can't say for the Action 5 stabilisation, I don't own one. > **We're not professional creators** >**I'd rather have "cinematic" footage** You're overthinking this. The Pocket 3 is not a cinematic camera. It's how you film, compose, edit, color grade, etc. The cinematic term is used loosely.

For POV shots go for the DJI Osmo Action 5. It's the best one for all light conditions and for capturing still images from video with "high" resolution. Classic motocycle vlog camera. For general use I'd go for the Insta360 X4. With the motorcycle bundle, you can pratically mount it everywhere. It's the least boring to use. All of these barely reach 3 hours of battery life, so reduce you expection of that. You either run a battery pack or have to carry multiple batteries. They're both easy to use, have dedicated editing software and are reliable enough for trips.

Idk why that is supposed to be a problem, why would you remotely record in 4k60???? Ppl complain about this but they actually don't use these settings properly. If you are in a race track or at a very high speed it might be noticeable, otherwise 4k30 would be more than enough... an also, at those enviroment settings you could go for an Action 5...

I was in the same camp. The main question to ask yourself is this: What am I filming? If it's a Vlog-type single talking-head whilst walking and shopping, the P3. If you're looking at more action-packed filming, then the A5. I have both. I talk with the P3 and (badly) b-roll hyper-lapse with the A5. It works for me and there's not much difference between the two - if you use the same settings. The A5 is more rugged and has a slightly wider field of view but the P3 has the better tracking on it if you are brave enough to leave your camera alone for a few minutes whilst you record. There's no hard and fast "best" camera, I'm afraid. However, continuing your questions: • I use CapCut and have recently started using a Tourbox - it's not particularly faster, but it makes me feel like a proper video editor. • I use the same titles and intro/outro clips and keep those to hand. That's all I can offer in terms of reducing the editing speed. • I use the Pocket 3, Action 5 (sometimes the Action 2) and also my phone for photographs. • I don't bother with filters or anything fancy; simply a few clips, a tripod and a selfie stick. • I upload to YouTube and Spotify with shorts/stories on YouTube and Instagram. I tend to take about 5-6 hours from start to finish but that's because of my style and how I've managed to get my format. I recently learned that I don't need to worry about uploading in 4K which helps reduce file size and I've just filmed in 1080p so I'm going to see what that's like in a few days (I'll be testing the output at 1080p and 4K)

Worse HDR? You get to shoot in Log, and you can make any HDR out of it. (An oversimplification, but you get the point.) Camera sensors are judged by their dynamic range, not their ability to shoot HDR. It really depends on how you shoot and how you grade it. For its price, there's no other camera that matches that image quality and color performance in action or rugged scenarios. It has never overheated on me, even in 36/38°C conditions. Once, in around 45°C+ outdoors, the display blacked out, but the camera kept recording. What I'm saying is that the Action 5 is slightly better, but if you're on a tighter budget, the Action 4 is still a solid choice. Both are far superior to GoPros in my experience, especially in terms of mounting options, battery life, and the ability to connect to DJI mics.

They are for different uses, but a static shot from the 6 should be similar. We will know soon enough, I have bought one but have to wait. I do not think it replaces the pocket, but it does some jobs better, like POV, water and sports of course. The 5 is fine in good light, the 6 should perform similar in low light to pocket 3

I was in a similar situation I first ruled out Insta P3 because the Action 5 Pro seemed to rate overall a little better and I also preferred having a dedicated front screen despite it being smaller to keep it compact when in use. My needs were water sports, travel and vlogs so I watched and read a lot of comparisons of the Pocket 3 and Action 5 Pro. It came down to a couple things first the Pocket 3 can't be used for any water activities so I moved onto can the Action 5 Pro fill the gap of the Pocket 3 and my conclusion was yes it performed well enough to fill that gap so I went with the Action 5 Pro. The most notable difference for me was losing the gimbal which you could buy one or use the built in rock steady feature which is pretty good. And not getting the nice blurred background the Pocket 3 gives you when vlogging (the A5P tries to keep everything in focus foreground and background). As for photos I already have a mirroless and really a good smartphone that has given me excellent photos that I've sold before. So I settled on the Action 5 Pro and have been very happy. In the ideal world I'd love to have both but the A5P checked enough boxes that it seemed like the better overall buy.

DJI and in particular Insta360 are going beyond marketing and into information warfare. It's insane how aggressive they are, not just with the "creators" but also suspiciously similar comments everywhere. But I can't deny that in terms of raw image quality GoPro is falling behind DJI. The Action 5 simply has massively better dynamic range and low light performance. There are still things a GoPro does better. My biggest pet peeve with the Action 5, for example, is that the exposure is super wonky and the images are overprocessed when you're not shooting in DLOG M. GoPro does better. GoPro labs is also awesome compared to the 3½ options you get on the DJIs. If GoPro manages to combine this with hardware that's on par, it would be total no brainer. Insta360 is different, because their direct competitor, the AcePro 2, is shit. Yet, they're trying to push that POS like there's no tomorrow. Just look at a random review of the Hero 13 or a DJI camera and there will be "people" praising the AcePro 2 in suspiciously similar wording.

DJI Nano is currently pretty cheap right not with Cyber Monday pricing - has same size sensor as Go Ultra but is between the Ultra and Go 3S in weight and is right now the same price a Go 3S (but better image quality). I was in the same situation as you before christmas and ended up with the Ace Pro 2, after doing a fair amount of research. And the reason is... Low light performance. DJI Osmo Action 5 beats GoPro by a mile here, but the Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 is even better than the DJI. The thing that has annoyed me the most with my GoPro is how grainy and bad the footage gets below 10 meters due to low light. While diving Alor this summer, my dive guide had the ace pro 1, and the difference in low light footage compared to my GoPro 11 black was mindblowing. I recommend to look at some comparisons at youtube!

For simplicity, if you only need to record for a couple hours. I tend to recommend something like a GoPro Hero / DJI Osmo Action / Insta360 Ace Pro. If you need to go over a couple hours consider adding a USB power bank. If you need to go for multiple days, there are dedicated construction Timelapse cameras like Brinno. Small, weather proof, can take it a little rough, and they tend to have lots of different mounting attachment options. There are some decent spring-clamp options.

It depends on the smoothness of the walk... there's no Z-axis so you'll still get some bounce, even with the horizon staying where it is. It'll move up and down, but nothing majorly to worry about. This applies to both cameras. The P3 has the nice flick where it goes from front to back (and back to front) with a cinematic "whoosh". I struggle a little finding the sweet turning point with the A5 but I've seen others do it. Set both to automatic (or continuous) focus and there's little issue - the special settings depend on personal choice. I always have a -0.3 exposure, even on my iPhone photos. Noise and smoothness both drop to -2 but again it's personal choice
