Check out DJI Action cameras. I have the Action 3 which is pretty affordable and very comparable to the GoPros but with better battery life and heat management. Quality is great especially if you turn on the stabilization feature. The latest is the Action 5 now but a bit more expensive.
r/Fishing_Gear • What camera for fishing videos? ->We use GoPros at work for in car spiels, and we have found the latest ones annoyingly buggy. Sometimes (not often) shutting down randomly and sometimes not saving a video and throwing up an error. It also tends to overheat when mounted on the windshield since we live in a hot country (happens often). Image quality is great, to be fair, but we shifted to osmo actions because of the more reliable software, more reliable heat dissipation and longer battery life. Transfer by files is also easier on the DJI with a better iPhone app. Overall, go pro has really good video quality, but the few times it failed, they were mission critical shots, and we just can't afford to have that gap in our workflow.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->Dji has 1 inch sensor. Superior to other two - that's why the quality is always better even in low light
r/Insta360 • X5 vs Max 2 vs Osmo 360 - my take having used all 3 ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

I am disappointed for sure. X5 came out unexpectedly (most likely because they knew DJI and Gopro were releasing something soon). The X5s larger sensors and AI chips did help enhance lower light situations, and I think color improved. Osmo360 disappointed with non replaceable lenses, and their workflow/apps still seem a little behind. The footage I saw originally was, at best, equal to the X5. For some reason recent footage looks better than X5. It's also disappointing that DJIs first 360 camera is just as expensive as the leader in the market (at least in the US) I thought Gopro was going to have a "hold my beer" moment. Their regular action cams have been taken over by DJI and Insta360. They haven't had a 360 cam in 5+ years. After being king for years, I thought they would swing for the fences to regain the title. So far, I've seen average footage. It's not the worst, but it's not the best. The fact that they didn't attempt to upgrade the sensor is unacceptable. Low light looks horrible. The replaceable lenses are nice, but it looks like it causes weird lense flares. Their attempt to convince us that we get more pixels because of some stitching gimmick doesn't mean anything to me. One thing for each camera to upgrade for me to choose would be X6 - 10 bit color Osmo3602 - replaceable lenses Max3 - larger sensor
r/gopro • Max2's image quality is insanely good ->Thanks. The footage looks good, but its hard to tell if it's any better than what the X5 or Osmo360 would've captured. When I say the gopro doesn't look as good, Im referring to comparison videos I've seen. I've even seen the creator say "its clear the max2 is better", yet I'm looking at it and thinking the complete opposite. This isnt about preference either. During a comparison, I can read words on a sign, but I can't read them from the Max2. Maybe I'll warm up to it like I did with the osmo360. I think the osmo360 is the best of the 3 at the moment.
r/gopro • Max2's image quality is insanely good ->I just watched Hugh's comparison video again. In good lighting, the osmo360 looks best out of the box. It's a little bit artificially sharpened to make it look clearer, which I dont mind. When you add sharpening in post, the Max2 does look better than the osmo360. It doesn't make up for the small sensor though. I dont think I've ever filmed a 360 video at night, but a larger sensor does make a difference in daytime situations. The osmo360 is so much better than the max2 and the X5 in those situations. As I said before, if the insta360 would upgrade to 10 bit, they win. If gopro would upgrade to a larger sensor, they win. If DJI would add replaceable lenses, they win. The DJI and Gopro editing softwares need to improve also.
r/gopro • Max2's image quality is insanely good ->I mean you can't really compare the two. The Sony will absolutley beat any action cam. However, the new DJI Action cam do have a bigger sensor vs the newest GoPro. Both of which are micro sized vs the APS-C sensor in the Sony. Action cams work better when you have video lights vs relying on natural lighting. They work great for caves when you can really lighten the whole place up.
r/scubadiving • Best Underwater Cameras for Beginners ->I feel like the 6 is a very small iteration that is probably worth it jumping from the 3, maybe worth it from the 4, definitely not worth it from the 5P. But, packs in good features like a square sensor and aperture ring that will be well perfected by the time 4-5 users *need* to upgrade for whatever reason. On the other hand, the aperture ring is a mechanical point of failure which I don't love with DJI's current situation here in the US.
r/dji • DJI Osmo Action 6 - It probably isn't for me. ->The main thing with a 360 camera is you don't have to make sure the camera is pointing in the right direction so don't miss anything. So far I've used mine hiking and cycling, I haven't tried it with skiing yet. I also have a DMI Osmo Action 3 that I used to take out a lot but find I reach for the Insta 360 X4 Air more. As others have said, the editing is a bit more involved because you have to choose which view you want to save to the exported video but once you get used to it, it isn't too bad. I find editing on the phone is fine for a quick result but you get more control on the desktop app which find quite easy. You just have to get your head around using key frames to change direction of view during the video.
r/Insta360 • New to 360 cameras. How do you like your Insta360 X5 for hiking and skiing? ->For simplicity, if you only need to record for a couple hours. I tend to recommend something like a GoPro Hero / DJI Osmo Action / Insta360 Ace Pro. If you need to go over a couple hours consider adding a USB power bank. If you need to go for multiple days, there are dedicated construction Timelapse cameras like Brinno. Small, weather proof, can take it a little rough, and they tend to have lots of different mounting attachment options. There are some decent spring-clamp options.
r/photography • What would be a good set up for taking timelapses at work? ->I strap osmo 3's to race cars what do you mean it can't chase toddlers around?
r/dji • Osmo Action 5 Pro, DO NOT believe the hype, it's really bad. ->For me, nothing beats an action camera that's tough and small enough to take everywhere. GoPros are the obvious choice, but I've also liked the DJI Osmo Action for travel; durable, great stabilization, and handles adventure stuff well. Really depends if you want something mountable or just handheld :)
r/videography • View on Reddit →DJI action and it's not even close. Far better than GoPro. I tested it on my recent diving trip.

r/dji • View on Reddit →Just buy a DJI Osmo Action and live a happy life.
r/MTB • View on Reddit →I buy a lot of camera for media collection for my dive shop. The ones that we choose currently are the DJI 5, Insta360 X3, and the DJI 3. GoPro doesn't get a look in as it's just not good enough anymore. We got given the 12 to test, and it's not been used since the test was complete...
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →As of Feb 22, 2025, Insta360 Ace Pro, Ace Pro 2, GoPro 12 and DJI Osmo Action are the three best action cams for motorcycle riding. If you do low light riding (night or overcast weather), go with Ace Pros. It has much better dynamic range and much higher image quality in low light. You'll find many comparison reviews in YouTube, I'd advise checking out a few of them for yourself. I own an Ace Pro and I never looked back.
r/motorcyclegear • View on Reddit →Dji Osmo Action. 4k, 60 fps. Can do slo-mo, hyperlapse, still pics, etc. Mine has been stepped on, played with by my sheep, dropped, rained on, dunked in water, beat on by ducks and geese, you name it. Still works great. I used to have GoPros, but DJI just has better image quality AND GoPros shut off in hot weather all the time. They just overheat in anything above 80 f. 5 minutes of video and boop, power off, overheating. Has yet to happen to my Osmo Action 5. Happened to every single GoPro I owned. (4 different gens) The DJI Osmo 3 is a great camera for filming stuff too, but it won't stand up to animals or accidents very well due to the exposed gimbal.
r/homestead • View on Reddit →I'm a gear head, I own a ton of camera equipment. You don't need the latest to document you trips. I'm still using an older GoPro hero 9 and it takes fantastic 4k 60FPS video. Look into the older generations. The processing power jumped between the 9 and 10th generation GoPro. Recommendation **If you can find a GoPro hero 10 that would be the best value.** The hero12 didn't have gps, so I'd avoid that generation if that feature is important to you. *Go pro alternatives:* I own a insta360 go3s. It's great for POV, ultra small. I clip it to my hat. Max resolution is 4k 30FPS. If you're going to do fast paced activities like racing you may find the framerate at the max resolution to be too slow. Insta360 X5 is a 360 camera. Theres a learning curve to the software. But provides the ability to reframe footage. Quality of the video will not be as good as a standard action camera. DJI osmo action, it's a solid choice as well. Bit rate is lower then a GoPro, but if you're not a professional you won't know the difference
r/hiking • View on Reddit →I bought the action 3 last year Aug. 2024. It was on sale, just needed it to record cycling videos in 2k or 4k and vlog. I love it, now I want a newer model to be able to sync a mic up. Is the 6 much different than the action 5?
r/dji • View on Reddit →GoPro facing back on the helmet is not a good idea lol. Good luck getting the right angles and everything, it would be cool if it worked though. The Osmo action line is good also, mine was good, I've read that they perform better in the cold than the GoPros, which was the main reason I bought mine. (Don't have one anymore because I barely used it)
r/skiing • View on Reddit →Go for DJI Osmo Action Camera. The image and video quality is superb. A little tweak on the hues and you're good to go. I regretted I bought a GoPro
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →I 2nd the Osmo Action cameras - much better underwater quality than a GoPro in my experience.
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →I've been a GoPro user ever since. It's a great choice for action-packed activities-built like a tank and made for hardcore conditions. However, my main issue with the GoPro, especially the Hero 12, is the overheating. It tends to get very hot, particularly in warm climates. For these conditions, the Osmo is a great alternative for me.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →try lang DJI OSMO 4 or 3 OP. pero if you want go pro madami sa group nag bebenta. dun ako bumili back up action cam ko. i bought my go pro 9 there for as low as 10k. lady owned super ganda pa ng unit. may kasama na accesories and extra 2 batteries, charger and memory card as well. package na siya. mura na ngayon kasi may bago na ulit nilabas magkasunod si go pro. si 12 and 13. kaya yung lower version bumaba ng sobra and presyo.
r/Tech_Philippines • View on Reddit →For underwater it depends a lot on: - Depth - Camera settings - Salt/lakewater GoPros tend to do fine until 10m on Mediterranean water, but require a physical filter after 10m to compensate for the blue/green, this means less light so you need at least 400 or 800 min ISO, white balance needs to be locked (I typically use 4500k). the DJI cams, I have the action 3, have an additional color sensor to do white balance adjustment and while it's not perfect it yields very good results even at 20m. So no need for a red filter, which also means more light.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →Some action cams like the DJI Osmo Action 3/4 and Insta360 Ace have proper loop recording or dashcam modes, you could look for a second-hand one to make it cheaper. GoPros can do it too, but they need extra setup (like GoPro Labs QR codes) to auto-start with power. You could also maybe ask in r/actioncam for more opinions and setups.
r/BikeCammers • View on Reddit →i think the pocket is better than the action. camera quality is great on the pocket and theres a built in gimbal but if you want to be a bit rough then go for the action since its more durable. the pocket is a bit more fragile. i ended up going with the action for that reason since i like to throw my cameras around
r/dji • View on Reddit →Dji has 1 inch sensor. Superior to other two - that's why the quality is always better even in low light
r/Insta360 • View on Reddit →Durability, battery life, overheating. The Osmo Action can record 4k60 or 120 all day everyday.
r/dji • View on Reddit →I haven't used it in any extreme cold yet but I've been really happy with my Osmo Action 3 that I've had for the last few years. Great action camera.
r/snowmobiling • View on Reddit →Yeah the OP3 is fantastic I love it so much with the DJI mic2, and the osmo action 5 lol, didnt mention it because its obviously better than the GPH13. I think my action 3 is a more fitting comparison. 360 cameras are on another league and the "new" max is an embarrassment, rehashed half decade old tech
r/gopro • View on Reddit →Whichever is compatible with the app you use, if any (TrackAddict, etc) for the sake of convenience. Really though, anything in a decent resolution will work. I use a DJI Osmo Action 3 and I've been happy with the results so far.
r/Autocross • View on Reddit →Ah, what a bummer, thanks. For night time I'm still using the OP3, but for action shots I'll stick to the Hero 13 then.
r/dji • View on Reddit →The software is still being worked on and pretty subpar for now, but my first results from the camera are pretty great. It's much much shorter than the X5 (roughly 4cm) but the video quality is on par or slightly better. Let me upload a video from last weekend to YT, I'll post the link when it's done :-)
r/SkyDiving • View on Reddit →Also mid-30s dude not trying to be an insta model.. I think an Insta360 camera sounds like a good idea. The Osmo comes in a close second, though. Earlier this year I traveled with a micro 4/3 camera, a couple lenses, and a GoPro. Used both less than 5 times total. While I'd like to take epic shots and videos, in reality I'm very impatient and most of what I shoot is AUTO everything. Unless it's dark, I hate messing with extra settings to get that perfect shot. I like street and landscape photography.. I'd take more action videos, but I find that I like to relish my dives, hikes, and active adventures rather than document them. That being said, sometimes I would like to show people some of the epic things I've seen. For street, I find my phone to be adequate (though not as good as an iPhone), but I haven't yet found anything light and compact for landscapes (not really viable for what I want to capture anyway). Knowing this, I think a 360 camera might be in the cards as it captures everything and I can edit what I want after the fact. With the right housings, they look like they can be a decent action camera, and the single lens use seems to be like a decent feature. And it's compact.
r/onebag • View on Reddit →Worth looking for second hand DJI also - I got a DJI osmo action off ebay for £50 (with a voucher, theyre normally about £100) and it's been really good. Like all others, it suffers a bit at night, but is still usually good enough to pick out number plates. I have it secured to my helmet with a couple of 3M adhesive pads; it's nice to be able to look at things (eg drivers on their phones) and know it's being recorded vs the static angle of a handlebar mount. I originally bought a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini - do not make this mistake, the battery isnt removable and it was dead on arrival!
r/londoncycling • View on Reddit →I strap osmo 3's to race cars what do you mean it can't chase toddlers around?
r/dji • View on Reddit →Osmo action 3 or 4 with case is fairly cheap and the video is good and the stills ok. And, it's ok on land too.
r/diving • View on Reddit →DJI Osmo action 3, 4 or 5 can record for as long as the battery lasts. I get about 2 hours at 2.4k 60fps
r/Cameras • View on Reddit →Yeah, then they're both good camera's. I use the 13 currently as i need the GPS, but if the next osmo has gps built in again I might switch back. No real wrong choice there.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →The difference is that the gopro 11, or any other gopro since, have inferior video quality compared to DJI action 3/4/5 or Insta360 ace pro 1 and 2. Gopros are inferior in quality for a while now in lowlight and also in good light conditions.
r/dji • View on Reddit →Ive had both. I'd lean slightly to the osmo. The big diffrence is down to gps imo. The osmo doesn't have it built in. You need the remote for it. The gopro does. Otherwise they're both fine. Overheating isn't an issue when driving.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →I just got the new Osmo360 from DJI. The software is still lacking, but it's much less of a unicorn shape (it's only 8.1cm tall, vs the X5 coming in at 12.5cm) while still offering fantastic image quality. And yes, for selfie shots from a 360 you want it to be mounted as far as possible from your helmet, but if you've mainly got the 360 - like me - to be able to easily reframe and to be able to see your flight, opening and landing in one shot, then you can just mount the 360 as snagfree and low as possible. I've got a new mount designed for it that fits my bases (massismounts.com) and will be testing it at the DZ tomorrow. https://preview.redd.it/4s66x5wz8xif1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09b2a2f959bdf09f9f8b089f0e6896be4d409fac
r/SkyDiving • View on Reddit →X5 and osmo360 are "fine" in low light. So why not?
r/Insta360 • View on Reddit →I have the DJI action 3. I was able to get a good deal on previous gen bundle. I believe they are on the 5 now so you can probably find similar bundles for cheap on the 4. There are a ton of youtube reviews comparing DJI and gopros.
r/hiking • View on Reddit →Your phone is often the best, it's just a psychological barrier to take it out and film without doing other stuff on it. You could always go for a gopro, osmo action or insta360 x5, all the latest ones have great features. The 360 cam is especially nice if you want to hit record and go, and spend a little more time in the editing to make the shots. Gopro or osmo action are just simple quick video devices. But if you want to take your time filming stuff everywhere you might like the sony zv e10 mark ii.
r/videography • View on Reddit →For me, it is only the form factor. The slow motion and stability is just as good with DJI so my next camera will be a Osmo instead of Gopro.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →I filmed a live concert two days ago, using an Osmo 360, three GoPro's (Osmo Actions kind of suck), three Sony A7S III's, a Sony A7C II, two Sony A6700's, a Sony A7 III, a Sony A7S II, and two Sony A7S I's. All of these cameras were filming for almost two hours, and not a single one overheated (the A6700's did require external fans).
r/gopro • View on Reddit →Go pro is probably not the first choice anymore. DJI Osmo action 4 and 5 are better imo. Insta 360 also have the ace series which are not 360 cameras despite the name. 360 cameras like the insta 360 X3 and X4 can shoot normal video too. All the do is record 2 feeds and mege then, front back back cameras with super wide angle lenses. I have an Osmo action 3 and 4 and an insta 360 X3. If you aren't interested in 360 video, the action 4 or 5 is a great choice. Much more rugged than the insta 360 and more shooting options in regard to frame rate and resolution. Another thing to consider is audio. If you want speaking in the videos, you'll need external mics. The Osmo action 4 and 5 can connect a DJI mic2 via Bluetooth. The insta 360 don't natively support external mics, but I've heard of a hack connecting the mic as a Bluetooth earphone in the menu and it working, but I haven't tried it.
r/Cameras • View on Reddit →I own the DJI action 3, insta 360 go2 and X4, and none of those could ever replace my Hero 13. Photos are better, the starlapses are nice, the camera records GPS data, the videos can be set to 8:7 vs the typical 4:3 offered by DJI...
r/gopro • View on Reddit →If I were to pay full price, I would have gotten the DJI action 5. Every GoPro I have ever used have at some point just snagged for no reason. But I have used the DJI action and action 3 for years. They simply just work every time. I use a hero13 now because I got one for free. It's great, but it did fail me once for no reason, right before doing a speedriding line which I really wanted to film.
