Ive had both. I'd lean slightly to the osmo. The big diffrence is down to gps imo. The osmo doesn't have it built in. You need the remote for it. The gopro does. Otherwise they're both fine. Overheating isn't an issue when driving.
r/gopro • Go pro 11 vs osmo action 4 for motovlogging ->Yeah, then they're both good camera's. I use the 13 currently as i need the GPS, but if the next osmo has gps built in again I might switch back. No real wrong choice there.
r/gopro • Go pro 11 vs osmo action 4 for motovlogging ->I'm a gear head, I own a ton of camera equipment. You don't need the latest to document you trips. I'm still using an older GoPro hero 9 and it takes fantastic 4k 60FPS video. Look into the older generations. The processing power jumped between the 9 and 10th generation GoPro. Recommendation **If you can find a GoPro hero 10 that would be the best value.** The hero12 didn't have gps, so I'd avoid that generation if that feature is important to you. *Go pro alternatives:* I own a insta360 go3s. It's great for POV, ultra small. I clip it to my hat. Max resolution is 4k 30FPS. If you're going to do fast paced activities like racing you may find the framerate at the max resolution to be too slow. Insta360 X5 is a 360 camera. Theres a learning curve to the software. But provides the ability to reframe footage. Quality of the video will not be as good as a standard action camera. DJI osmo action, it's a solid choice as well. Bit rate is lower then a GoPro, but if you're not a professional you won't know the difference
r/hiking • Go pro alternative ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

Your phone is often the best, it's just a psychological barrier to take it out and film without doing other stuff on it. You could always go for a gopro, osmo action or insta360 x5, all the latest ones have great features. The 360 cam is especially nice if you want to hit record and go, and spend a little more time in the editing to make the shots. Gopro or osmo action are just simple quick video devices. But if you want to take your time filming stuff everywhere you might like the sony zv e10 mark ii.
r/videography • Best vlogging camera that's bang for buck/decently cheap? ->I was hoping to finally see dive footage of the new 6. Im still using Osmo 1. Looks amazing. Very high detail. I like it better than the trendy 360s. I'm thinking about getting it
r/scuba • Finally some DJI Osmo action 6 dive footage ->We use GoPros at work for in car spiels, and we have found the latest ones annoyingly buggy. Sometimes (not often) shutting down randomly and sometimes not saving a video and throwing up an error. It also tends to overheat when mounted on the windshield since we live in a hot country (happens often). Image quality is great, to be fair, but we shifted to osmo actions because of the more reliable software, more reliable heat dissipation and longer battery life. Transfer by files is also easier on the DJI with a better iPhone app. Overall, go pro has really good video quality, but the few times it failed, they were mission critical shots, and we just can't afford to have that gap in our workflow.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->For simplicity, if you only need to record for a couple hours. I tend to recommend something like a GoPro Hero / DJI Osmo Action / Insta360 Ace Pro. If you need to go over a couple hours consider adding a USB power bank. If you need to go for multiple days, there are dedicated construction Timelapse cameras like Brinno. Small, weather proof, can take it a little rough, and they tend to have lots of different mounting attachment options. There are some decent spring-clamp options.
r/photography • What would be a good set up for taking timelapses at work? ->Dji has 1 inch sensor. Superior to other two - that's why the quality is always better even in low light
r/Insta360 • X5 vs Max 2 vs Osmo 360 - my take having used all 3 ->For me, it is only the form factor. The slow motion and stability is just as good with DJI so my next camera will be a Osmo instead of Gopro.
r/gopro • Genuinely curious on why anyone still buys Gopro ->I mean you can't really compare the two. The Sony will absolutley beat any action cam. However, the new DJI Action cam do have a bigger sensor vs the newest GoPro. Both of which are micro sized vs the APS-C sensor in the Sony. Action cams work better when you have video lights vs relying on natural lighting. They work great for caves when you can really lighten the whole place up.
r/scubadiving • Best Underwater Cameras for Beginners ->definitely not chinese noname shit (obviously) and not insta360 (a flip screen on a hinge on an action cam wtf) as an former owner of a hero 10 and now hero 13 i probably would go for a dji since \~70 mins of 4k@60fps-high bitrate-10bit-hypersmooth video is a joke.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →If one camera is all you want or can afford than the insta360 X3.. Buy it used.. Way cheaper and had better low light than x4 I myself have helmet cams, x4 and Dji action 1 but I'm paranoid and can afford them. But for a newb low on money, the X3 is the best
r/AussieRiders • View on Reddit →I second the dji i still have original one and still works fine. I also really like my insta 360 x3. I would look at something different for a dash cam as they have come a fair way for bikes. And can now stay on the bike permanently with front and rear cameras. I have taken my 360 on quad bike things in Bali and while there was a little bit of wobble, it was more the dodgy way I mounted it to the bike, with pole and cheap grip thing, that got yeeted about half way in.
r/AussieRiders • View on Reddit →I had an original DJI osmo action, flooded in less than 2m of water. They replaced it under warranty 3 times and I just gave up. Great image quality tho. Have a GoPro 12 now and got the housing for it straight away to avoid any issues. The polaroid version looks pretty good too.
r/Spearfishing • View on Reddit →i was close to buying this just now, but then found out there is no 2nd display. welp. sadly it will be the dji osmo action for me most likely

r/hiking • View on Reddit →well yes. you are a bot that replies to people immediately who speak slightly ill of DJI? lol not as dumb as how DJI benchmark their camera. claim up to 200 minutes lol but that is in 1080p quality and you need to save some of the battery for the vision dock so it is probably 170 minutes at most. also learned that you can't even preview footage when your camera is disconnected from the visiondock. so much for the "pov" camera thing. currently trying to find out the battery life on the DJI osmo action 5 pro now because guess what - their battery life benchmark on that is also horrible. it is 1080p quality with no WiFi and both screens off. how the hell am i supposed to see what i am recording? lmao. what a company. keeps getting worse and worse the more i educate myself on these cameras
r/osmopocket • View on Reddit →Just buy a DJI Osmo Action and live a happy life.
r/MTB • View on Reddit →Get one of the DJI Osmo, better than GoPro and less overpriced
r/surf • View on Reddit →i think the pocket is better than the action. camera quality is great on the pocket and theres a built in gimbal but if you want to be a bit rough then go for the action since its more durable. the pocket is a bit more fragile. i ended up going with the action for that reason since i like to throw my cameras around
r/dji • View on Reddit →I've been a GoPro user ever since. It's a great choice for action-packed activities-built like a tank and made for hardcore conditions. However, my main issue with the GoPro, especially the Hero 12, is the overheating. It tends to get very hot, particularly in warm climates. For these conditions, the Osmo is a great alternative for me.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →I just started using a DJI osmo. I had to stop using 4K because the files get to big and I'm impatient with the download. I'm going to switch to their GoPro knock off as it has a tracking feature that might work better. Rink rules I have to have it on the outside of the glass but it still works pretty good with a suction cup mount. [short example clip](https://youtu.be/LHWH1ZG1rYo?si=9zumLKeA78e0K6s6)
r/hockeygoalies • View on Reddit →I have a Osmo Action 1. is the Upgrade to the 4 Worth it?
r/dji • View on Reddit →I think the guy standing still in the front row of a punk consert is gonna stand out lol. All jokes aside, maybe the osmo pocket3's camera performance would be really good, but i think you would benefit from something a bit more rugged like an actual action cam. Just in case. You drop it. Look into something that has replacement lenses like a gopro (though i wouldn't go back to gopro myself) or dji osmo action for example. Or maybe even a sturdy point-and shoot. Look at which one has the best low light performance for concerts. Generally acton cams don't have huge sensors, which means you'll have worse quality in low light.
r/osmopocket • View on Reddit →DJI action and it's not even close. Far better than GoPro. I tested it on my recent diving trip.
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →I still use two of the first model DJI Action. Still good enough for most situations and what is most important: rock solid reliability: when I press the red button, it records until the battery is empty. Not a single occurrence where it went wrong. When connected to a power bank, it records all day, even on hot days. Think of buying the Action 6 because of the low-light performance.
r/gadgets • View on Reddit →I have Osmo Action and I set my displays to turn off after 5 secs. When I'm holding it in my hand I've found its extremely easy to point it in the direction of the things that I want to record and im always getting the shot I wanted. Can't do the same with Pocket 3, I have to look at the screen.
r/osmopocket • View on Reddit →Durability, battery life, overheating. The Osmo Action can record 4k60 or 120 all day everyday.
r/dji • View on Reddit →I had 2 DJI osmosis Actions (little cube things) and they would record about 5 min and shut off from overheating. My hero 10 will record for hours connected to constant power and never bat a lense in heat lol
r/gopro • View on Reddit →If you're looking for something affordable buy used. Action cams are designed to be durable so the risk of a used one breaking are fairly minimal. Most people use GoPro cameras but I for one would take the DJI Osmo action over it.
r/Karting • View on Reddit →I really enjoy using my DJI Osmo Action 0, I probably use I for around 5% of my rides/ any big trails or DH runs I'm doing. I like to watch back over my runs every now and again. My Osmo action 0 has been brilliant.
r/MTB • View on Reddit →If you want a dash-cam, then get a dash-cam. Action cams are fantastic for action shooting, but they make shitty dash-cams. Dash-cams aren't good for action shooting, but they are the perfect thing to use as a dash-cam. I own a DJI action cam (I use it when I'm shooting to help self-coach my mount and head position), and I have a GoPro as well. I also have front and rear dash-cams on three bikes and my truck. I had a helmet-mounted camera many years ago. It was great in some ways, but it was annoying as hell because it always needed charging, it had to be wiped after every ride, and it had to be turned on. The dash-cams turn on when the ignition turns on, they auto-rewrite (write over the oldest footage), and they just always work. The best thing they do is remove the human element from the equation.
r/motorcycles • View on Reddit →Go for DJI Osmo Action Camera. The image and video quality is superb. A little tweak on the hues and you're good to go. I regretted I bought a GoPro
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →As of Feb 22, 2025, Insta360 Ace Pro, Ace Pro 2, GoPro 12 and DJI Osmo Action are the three best action cams for motorcycle riding. If you do low light riding (night or overcast weather), go with Ace Pros. It has much better dynamic range and much higher image quality in low light. You'll find many comparison reviews in YouTube, I'd advise checking out a few of them for yourself. I own an Ace Pro and I never looked back.
r/motorcyclegear • View on Reddit →The only negatives that I have about the DJI so far, is that the video files don't seem to interact well with Premiere Pro (not sure about other video editors). There are work arounds, but GoPro footage works way more smoothly with Premiere Pro. The materials of the camera feel "cheaper" than GoPros. Not sure if that's just in my head, but I reckon a GoPro Hero would handle more action than a DJI Osmo Action. The raw footage you get from the DJI, however, is far better than that of a GoPro, especially underwater (and you suck at colour grading) and in darker environments. I've been using the DJI without a protective housing. I opted for the 2 year insurance option because of it, and I can get a replacement camera or lens relatively cheap if anything happens while diving. Unsure how smoothly the process for replacement is, as of yet, but I'd assume it's good.
r/Spearfishing • View on Reddit →Wrong: osmo action is the action cam, the osmo pocket is the mini gimbals. Also the Osmos are fucking fantastic
r/videography • View on Reddit →Depends on your use case, for me I won't be going into the GoPro brand, because they have a reputation for the camera shutting down and not working properly. They are very similar there is no clear winner, for me DJI makes more sense due to the running performance, low light and weight. But I would love to have the timestamp and gps features of the GoPro, the thing for me is that the GoPro is very well documented in overheating and that's a deal breaker for me.
r/motorcycle • View on Reddit →Also mid-30s dude not trying to be an insta model.. I think an Insta360 camera sounds like a good idea. The Osmo comes in a close second, though. Earlier this year I traveled with a micro 4/3 camera, a couple lenses, and a GoPro. Used both less than 5 times total. While I'd like to take epic shots and videos, in reality I'm very impatient and most of what I shoot is AUTO everything. Unless it's dark, I hate messing with extra settings to get that perfect shot. I like street and landscape photography.. I'd take more action videos, but I find that I like to relish my dives, hikes, and active adventures rather than document them. That being said, sometimes I would like to show people some of the epic things I've seen. For street, I find my phone to be adequate (though not as good as an iPhone), but I haven't yet found anything light and compact for landscapes (not really viable for what I want to capture anyway). Knowing this, I think a 360 camera might be in the cards as it captures everything and I can edit what I want after the fact. With the right housings, they look like they can be a decent action camera, and the single lens use seems to be like a decent feature. And it's compact.
r/onebag • View on Reddit →People are switching to DJI, GoPros tend to overheat. Basically want editing on phone and ai stuff use insta360, it's the heaviest one. Want GPS(this is nice but some models don't have it) and the original, uso GoPro. Want the arguably best night shots(insta360 is also good here) and a lighter camera get DJI. If you're going to add audio the DJI one has a sync directly with their mics and GoPro will ask you to add a mod or an adapter. Insra360 has Bluetooth connection also but needs a USB to jack adapter for the mic if you want better audio. Edit: I use an older insta360 camera, an one r 1inch, that's heavier than a current DJI but has awesome night imagine due to the bigger sensor, for audio I capture it separately using s dedicated mic and sync in post.
r/motorcycle • View on Reddit →My GoPro let me down every single time I tried to film in cold weather. Every. Single. Time. It would lock up or it would shutdown. This happened on multiple outings, different batteries, different memory cards, and so on. I was in the Rockies doing a video and also had a DJI Action 1 that a friend had let me borrow. The GoPro died about 45 minutes into the trip - would not stay running in the cold. The DJI Action 1 ran the whole trip, no issues, always powered up, always worked. I gave up on GoPro at that point and went all DJI (Action 4 and a Pocket 3).
r/gopro • View on Reddit →Kung second hand, don't go lower than a Hero 7 Black for GoPro. Huwag yung Silver versions, stick to Black. Exception sa rule neto ay yung Hero 5 Session dahil sa form factor. Osmo Action 1 is good contender din. Not as wide as the GoPro pero goods yung stabilization. Brand new, stick to GoPro, DJI, and Intsa360. Serviceable naman yung quality ng mga SJCam at Akaso pero hahanapin mo pa din yung linaw at wide fov.
r/PHMotorcycles • View on Reddit →I filmed a live concert two days ago, using an Osmo 360, three GoPro's (Osmo Actions kind of suck), three Sony A7S III's, a Sony A7C II, two Sony A6700's, a Sony A7 III, a Sony A7S II, and two Sony A7S I's. All of these cameras were filming for almost two hours, and not a single one overheated (the A6700's did require external fans).
r/gopro • View on Reddit →4-5 years ago I did research on an action camera. Bunch of reviews stated GoPro had over heating issues. This past year I looked at reviews again and people were still complaining of the SAME issues GoPro had vs DJI. Bought a DJI OSMI action 1 and now have an action 5. They're great action cameras and the market is full of a competition. So there is just way more cameras to choose from vs long ago when GoPro was king and one of the only choices you had for an action cam.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →GoPro facing back on the helmet is not a good idea lol. Good luck getting the right angles and everything, it would be cool if it worked though. The Osmo action line is good also, mine was good, I've read that they perform better in the cold than the GoPros, which was the main reason I bought mine. (Don't have one anymore because I barely used it)
r/skiing • View on Reddit →Yeah, then they're both good camera's. I use the 13 currently as i need the GPS, but if the next osmo has gps built in again I might switch back. No real wrong choice there.
r/gopro • View on Reddit →DJI action camera blow GoPro out of the water. I run osmo action cams and my favorite currently is my insta 360 with dive housing.
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →For me, nothing beats an action camera that's tough and small enough to take everywhere. GoPros are the obvious choice, but I've also liked the DJI Osmo Action for travel; durable, great stabilization, and handles adventure stuff well. Really depends if you want something mountable or just handheld :)
r/videography • View on Reddit →Insta360 or DJI action cam. The current crop of go pro cameras need to have the heavy duty (white) batteries and often will shut off due to the battery vibrating and the camera thinking it is overheating. My favorite for all around view is insta360 rs one with 360 module. It's discontinued, but great quality and size. The DJI action is great and usually on sale. For 4k the insta360 rs pro. PS, you don't need to respond to this comment and tell me your go pro works fine. I own 3-12 blacks, 6-11 blacks, a few 10s and I'm almost rid of all my 9s finally. I do video coaching and use them extensively, all run dev firmware.... I own 4 of the rs ones, 2 rs pros, 3-action 4s, an action 5 and 2 aim smartycam 3 units.
r/Karting • View on Reddit →I 2nd the Osmo Action cameras - much better underwater quality than a GoPro in my experience.
r/scubadiving • View on Reddit →Worth looking for second hand DJI also - I got a DJI osmo action off ebay for £50 (with a voucher, theyre normally about £100) and it's been really good. Like all others, it suffers a bit at night, but is still usually good enough to pick out number plates. I have it secured to my helmet with a couple of 3M adhesive pads; it's nice to be able to look at things (eg drivers on their phones) and know it's being recorded vs the static angle of a handlebar mount. I originally bought a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini - do not make this mistake, the battery isnt removable and it was dead on arrival!
r/londoncycling • View on Reddit →I tend to agree for video a GoPro is pretty good but you are paying a bit for the brand and limited in zoom options. I like my osmo actioncam even though it's a bit ancient now and some of the later ones seem to do impressive footage for the price/size. No real use for stills though.
